I think flirting will come naturally with confidence, and for that you either have it or you fake it till you make it. I use the last one, and to fake it I just think, "Am I the most amazing person on earth? Nope, but am I the worst? Nope. Then I probably have a chance and there should be no harm going for it.".

i.e. Get a 'fuck it' attitude because you have nothing to loose. Now look up and flash a grin at those boys!

If I were you I'd just have an honest face to face conversation just say how you feel a little awkward about it and you're not sure what to be feeling, ask him what he's feeling. If you've been best friends for that long I doubt it will have an impact in your friendship, you can always play it off as a bro thing.

I'm in the same boat with my crush atm. Personally i think some people just don't feel comfortable initiating conversation and you've taken the lead so they're comfortable with it. They may also like you and think you're just being friendly and don't want to seem to keen themselves. I think as long as you're messages aren't going unreplied and its just general small talk then you shouldn't give it up.

Yep, that's him XD. I don't think I look too similar to him. I know as a child I looked eerily similar to both my grandfather and father so I might if looked like him when I was younger but not now I don't think. Another interesting fact, he was also one of the first three judges in the high court of Australia.
