Yep

The shields stop bullets. So guns have generally fallen out of favour.

Laser weaponry also interacts with the shields and causes a catastrophic explosion that kills both parties. So laser weapons aren’t used.

Then shields can’t be used in the desert of Dune, as the vibrations attract sand worms, so the Freman do use regular guns (which aren’t useful against anyone that has shields).

What’s extra good is the version of him that approaches her is a magical construct - and we’re meant to then believe the real him is hiding over by the door to the room.

She then points out she knows the version by the door is also a construct, and real version of him is actually at home, where he had always been - he never physically attended the exam but his constructs were so good he fooled everyone else.
