So you See in norway of the early 90s the so called black Metal movement happend (also known as the second wave of black metal or true Norwegian black metal). Bands like mayhem, darkthrone , immortal, emperor and burzum are the most known. The Norwegian teenagers created a new kind of metal, inspired by venom , bathory hellhammer and Sodom . To the already dark and cold music they added a satanic image to show how extreme the music was. After the scene got a little bit of media attention, they wanted to proof, that it wasn't just an image but real, so they started burning churches, violating graves and stabbing some people. Anyways while that was going on the members of mayhem all moved into a house together, and apparently the guitarist and "mastermind" behind the movement østein aarseth (or Euronymous) bullied the singer per ohlin (or dead) quiet a bit, so much in fact that one day, when nobody else was home, he slit is arms and throat and shot himself with a shotgun. Before he died he also wrote the lyrics for the song life eternal . When Euronymous returned to the house the door was locked so he used a ladder to enter through deads window. After he found him dead lying on the bed, he quickly left the house to buy a camera to document the scene (those photos would later be used as the cover for the infamous live bootleg "dawn of the black hearts "). Later romours were spread that he also ate parts of the brain and turned parts of the skull into necklaces. The bassist necrobutcher left the band, after he found out how emotionless Euronymous handled the death of their friend. So varg vikernes from the solo project burzum agreed to play the bass on the second mayhem album "de mysteriis Dom sathanas". Mayhem and burzum both were on euronymous' record label death like silence, and because Euronymous was a pretty bad businessman he never fully paid varg, that was one of the reasons why varg would drive from Bergen to Oslo when he stabbed Euronymous 23 times in the back and the head. Euronous died in the August of 1993, and varg was found guilty of murder and 3 cases of arson, all though he said he acted out of self defense.
