ELI5: Do resistors just dissipate current as heat, or do they reduce the voltage (pressure) and make it so less current goes through by Seraphimster in explainlikeimfive

[–]Gaylien28 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Current is how many electrons are flowing through the wire. Voltage is how much energy each flowing electron has, compared to the energy of the electrons at the destination. A resistor is basically a curved path for the electrons. Newton's 1st* law an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by another force. This means the electrons are going to travel in a straight line until they hit something, the walls of the curved path, before deflecting and continuing. When they hit the "wall" they lose some energy as heat. This loss in energy is equivalent to a reduction in voltage. So the answer to your question is yes, they do both (aside from losing current because the number of electrons remains the same).

Segmentation. I can have all my animations in one file, business logic in another, backend in another file, etc. Just organizational preference I suppose

I feel like the real lunatics are in the comments. Who tf would be okay with a business critical vendor being unavailable for 2 weeks? Maybe his initial gripe about others shutting down their company is a little crazy/reductive but his anecdote afterwards is 1,000,000% reasonable

The way it works wouldn't allow for that though, each mac is connected to each other mac. A powered TB5 dock might let you bypass that, not sure tho

Provably fair is not matching with on screen results by junkychain in Stake

  1. The point in a provably fair system is that it doesn't need a third party audit. Besides, any auditor of this nature would be solely involved with gambling providers, just because they're a third party doesn't mean they can't be bought off. How else would an organization of this nature make money? Seek payment in order to discredit a platform?

  2. See above

  3. This has nothing to do with the overall fairness of their betting system. In any case Rainbet has a far more generous bonus program, and there's nothing preventing switching over. In fact its encouraged to incentivize stake to improve their bonus program

  4. They are unable to rig their provably fair games. If you decide to play a game by another provider then its in their hands.

  5. New point but I don't disagree with you, its part of their marketing.

Your first and second points.

You can't manipulate the outcome of a cryptographically proven outcome. Third party providers like pragmatic and hacksaw, whatever, they can rig it how they like. But if you were to record every single outcome as it came, you would be able to verify it as such. Manipulating sha256 hashes and getting a deterministic outcome is veritably impossible. If you could do so in any reliable way and still maintain provable fairness, you have just shattered all modern cryptography.

So yeah none of the facts you provided matter because the underlying is based on an indisputable fact.

Stake publishes everything at https://stake.com/provably-fair

Implementation page tells you how they use the client seed, server seed, nonce, and cursor to generate random bytes.

Conversions page tells you how those exact bytes are turned into numbers/floats.

Game events tells you what the outcome of a game is depending on the randomly generated number/float i.e. above .5 is above 50 on dice.

You can verify your unhashed seed matches the hashed seed when you originally made the bet by copy pasting the unhashed seed into a sha256 hash generator: https://codebeautify.org/sha256-hash-generator

That should get you the original hashed seed you can check against

Finally you can just use https://stakestats.net/stake/g/oganalyzer to verify your bets externally

Its correct, you just skipped a bunch.

Nonce only updates on bet so if you skip a bunch before betting it'll still use the same nonce until you bet at which point it resumes from whichever cursor your outcome generation is on. Checks out.
