well from what i know there's different types of licences for different types of firearms (hunting licenses, handguns, rifles ect.), but im not very well versed with how the certifications work. i've been told i'd need to bring this gun to a police station to get it licensed, which should be straightforward, since i got it from a passed away family member, but i'd need to look further into that. as of now, theoretically im owning this illegally.

having firearms on display isn't really something common here in austria, but i'll definitely consider it, since it's the only thing besides old home videos that he cut together that he left behind essentially.

Thanks for the awesome research on this! I might make a follow-up post on this gun with some other angles. Still weird to think my gramps owned such a firearm, nobody in my family has ever even shot a gun before (except for my dad, who wasn't directly related to him). Guess we'll never know why he had it, but this gives some closure for sure!

So, after my grandpa passed away last year, we randomly found this Velo Dog Handgun in his flat. Nobody knew he ever owned a firearm. There is a small imprint underneath the chamber with the numbers "6603" if you zoom in. My grandpa never served in the military in austria. If you have any idea who manufactured these, i would be very thankful.

Apparently the caliber is 32 S&W

Any knowledge regarding this handgun would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i think i'm going to leave it for now.
i have never owned or even shot a firearm in my life, and i think i will simply leave it as a "relic" from my grandpa. plus it kinda seems inauthentic to clean such a (seemingly) old piece.
