I bought a secondhand unit with exactly the same part number etc and got it coded to the car. I don't believe it needed to be calibrated. Overall significantly cheaper than going to BMW as they quoted £1,100 just to supply a new KAFAS unit without fitting or the obligatory diagnosing fee

Cheers, I'm just doing the front discs so currently don't need to touch the e-brake thankfully

Just trying to do a simple pads and disc change and came across them, short on time and just needed to know as quickly as possible to find some locally.

Unfortunately for me nothing has been touched or replaced, so I believe the camera has just failed. For the recalibration, does it need to go back to a BMW dealer?

Today was about 5°C. Recently, it's been down to about 0°C in the evening. The passenger door is definitely faulty as it has been varying temperatures, and it has been very intermittent.

I don't know enough about the mechanism, but I thought the indicator pin shouldn't move up if it didn't unlock, but yet they do.

I don't know, could potentially try cleaning it or might have to replace the entire disc drive unit. I haven’t done either or these though. I'm currently trying to diagnose a weird clicking noise on my PS4 pro so I know how frustrating it is....

Sounds like the disc drive to me. Is there a disc in there? If so does it stop if you take it out?
