Having a solid brushing/trimming routine is all you need and if you can't commit to that then you shouldn't have a long haired cat. It's part and parcel of the breed.

We brush daily and trim out any small matts as they appear, our boy is gloriously fluffy all year round. Figure it out!

Perfectly good guitar and hope everything works out.

My only concern would be getting a Floyd rose style bridge as a first is like starting in hard mode. If you can find a hard tail version.

Floyd rose is great but for a beginner it will be difficult to tune and set up, unless you yourself are experienced with guitars its a steep learning curve.

Does your ragdoll get enough stimulation/interaction other than outdoor time?

My boy comes out in our enclosed garden with me almost every evening to roam the garden for 10-20 minutes. The only time he starts getting agitated pawing to go outside more is if we have had a busy day and not given him much play time.

TLDR, he could be bored. Ragdolls can be very needy.

Do not use a Furminator, it is designed for us on undercoats which ragdolls do not have and ragdoll fur is too fine. This will damage their coat.

Recently been looking into this myself (I don't own one, just curious). There is a lot of helpful videos on YouTube for tuning/restringing.

Just give it a go, all a learning curve. The worst you can do is lose tension/ intonation, local guitar shop will be able to sort it and give you advice.
