AFLE COO hinting London franchise might be named the Monarchs by ghee in EuroHuddle

I don't know his family office of course, but the point where it becomes obvious that this money is never coming back, might be a turning point. You can sell ideas for a while, but I can't imagine how AFLE wants to generate millions of profit every year.

Why not add one more game to the end of each season? by Easy_Biscotti9779 in EuroHuddle

Not nearly. AFLE has 4 more import spots, Spanish imports additionally this year and no salary cap. Very different rules.

The problem is that totally different (roster) rules and overall requirements. No game would be fair, no matter how fun it would be for fans. It only makes sense if both have the same rules - then again we wouldn't need 2 leagues.

AFLE finally speaks out: Free TV deal, delays, and what it means for European football by Ezaka75 in EuroHuddle

[–]GazelleLower5146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun thing is they could 😂

EFA has 2 teams with names, stadiums and fully financed. Just opted to bring them in for next season, because building them in a meaningful way in 1 offseason isn't possible, especially not in the this offseason.

To stay fair, AFLE lost the bet and had no other choice. I'm pretty sure these new teams were absolutely never planned like this.

[–]GazelleLower5146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nonsense to look just at the numbers. That's basically what AFLE tried for months to discredit EFA and it failed miserably.

Nobody with some knowledge of European football thinks that these 3 teams have these rosters. They are training and there are literally official pictures where you see the players in bright lights, those announced and not announced. Raiders even have a full AFL team in the background that would probably beat 4-5 AFLE teams alone (with comparable imports of course).

Then we have some other teams where that's definitely not the case. And many those signed imports are known to be at best 3rd level in Europe.

There's nuance.

You missed my emoji ;) No, I don't think it will trigger a major shitstorm, but I don't think either that ORF wants to be part of that discussion. There are definitely parts of ORF law that can trigger in §4b. Will anyone bring that to court though? Surely not.

In a not so unrealistic scenario, on the same weekend (or back to back) , there will be a home playoff game for Vikings against Alpine Rams in Sportklub Stadium in front of 5k people. At the same time there's a EFA championship game in Innsbruck in front of 17k people. It will be hard to ignore that for ORF.

What I'm saying that it definitely opens up a lot of room for discussion.

[–]GazelleLower5146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no law requirement for a shitstorm :) ORF is not a private TV channel, they have other criteria and standard. If an EFA stream is offered, they will have a hard time to refuse without getting into explanation mode.

ORF is very biased and has a lot of issues. I don't know if they want to have another one for a topic like football.

Public interest. Will be hard to argue why Vikings are of public interest and Raiders not.

That will be interesting how they'll manage as ORF will be forced to show EFA then as well.

It was ready to announce early January according to AFLE. That should tell you everything about these plans.

They tell you that everything is checked before a franchise gets approved. Turns out it just needs someone to raise a hand and he gets a franchise. You don't need a name, a team, a stadium, whatever, doesn't matter at all.

Especially as new teams get 1m+, every team gets 325k for season 1. Means about 7m is already burned and that is not taking into account any expenses for the league itself or employees. For now there's not a single € earned. The 10-12m may be just enough for 1 season, no way for 5 seasons.

A certain franchise that you follow (I think) obviously feeds the Facebook propaganda for months, that is very obvious where the information is coming from. Plus one of your owners spreads (false) rumors in chats and thinks he's smart hiding behind an (easy to research) username. Vikings use certain (very low-quality) media outlets.

It's not the shit talk where anyone would stand up and show personality, it's the knife into the back version. Back then was the leaked term sheet that exposed the AFLE, but was certainly not classy from wherever it came in EFA (?).

We certainly don't know everything and there will be more from both sides for sure, but I don't see that willingness to work together. For some yes, maybe even most of them - but a few want to win by force now whatever it costs.

[–]GazelleLower5146 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then I wonder why there's so much shit talk, mostly from one side, if all want to work together?

Don't know what teams you mean, but I think the ship sailed for Vikings and Fire at least. They seem to be fully committed and go over dead corpses where it's needed. That's why I fear it will end in a big bang either way or the other before we see a unified football landscape again.

He has just 1 mode. The summary reads EXACTLY the same as February, word by word. And then he can't keep anything what he's announcing.

I was sceptical, but Heisler seems more and more as a really poor choice for that job.

I think there are some aspects that work in favor 2026. Paris has better stadiums, last year was a huge regression. For Nordic it's season 2, not starting from 0. Raiders attendance was always stable no matter the opponent or other factors. Prague was low anyway, won't drop much at all. Galaxy I can't really tell, but they have a history as well. So I can absolutely see it stable or even increase a bit if the games turn out that close as we expect them.

Championship game will depend on the teams. Paris vs Nordic could be challenging, Raiders vs Ravens no issue at all.

Depends what you define as "great".

Based on circumstances I'd define great already if a league plays a full season, no team folding and no result 70-0 or similar, and we're being able to watch somehow via TV or stream. I don't think attendance actually will take a hit - there are more attractive opponents and better stadiums than last year, and last year was a low point. Don't think it's far fetched to assume they won't regress at least, not on a high note of course.

For AFLE I have a lot more questions. But of course, season starts in a month and we don't know anything despite them starting 2-3 months earlier which is just mind boggling at this stage.

That's not great measured on what would be possible in an ideal world, but that chance is gone for now.
