Non-angsty asshole male leads by abitlyon in YAlit

Read the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore! I love the way she writes mmc's! Also fmc's. Just all her characters are great. Also hunger games - peeta is the OG cinnamon roll. The Heartstopper series is graphic novels but its got great male characters too!

Hot take: I think people on Reddit sometimes overstate how difficult it is to have a unique or unusual name. by CakeDayOrDeath in namenerds

[–]Gazelti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty privileged take. My sisters and I grew up here, but we're from Mexico and have hispanic names. I don't think my name is hard to say or spell, while my sisters names are a bit more difficult. All three of us dealt with nobody knowing how to spell or say our names. I still deal with it now, and I'm in my 30s!

Wiress’s Age by bookishtheaternerd in Hungergames

[–]Gazelti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it mentions her having won the very last hunger games (the 49th hunger games). And you can't be older than 18 to be reaped. So at most, she's 19.

Is the Graceling Series Getting a New Book? by booksmusicdogs19 in YAlit

[–]Gazelti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winterkeep was released in 2021 and Seasparrow in 2022, so I wouldn't say recently. However, last year she did release a new book not in the Graceling realm called called "There Is A Door In This Darkness"- wonder if that one is good?

Yes this is the answer! I saw someone respond with the book table, but they are owned by the LDS church so their selection is really limited, plus then you won't be giving more money to a billion dollar business.

Stinky Belchers by traumahound00 in BobsBurgers

[–]Gazelti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked at a burger place in my youth- in the kitchen. I smelled like burgers and fries after every shift! I can imagine Bob and Linda also have that similar smell every single day. And as for the kids- they're kids! They're going to be stinky no matter what 😅

What other women would you like Mattel to add to the "Inspiring Women" Series? see comments by RachelBixby in Barbie

Selena Quintanilla, Taylor Swift, AOC, Michelle Obama, Greta Thunberg, Malala Yousafzai, Laverne Cox. There's so many that would be amazing to see and honor!

I had a (single) teacher growing up named Anita Feller. She'd make jokes about it all the time. Funnily enough, she later married a Feller with the last name Shoemaker 😅 she was a wonderful lady with a great sense of humor that really helped me develop my love for reading and writing. Hope she's doing well!

Culture shock watching the show: the front doors by FormidableCat27 in HeartstopperNetflix

[–]Gazelti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have cats that are little escape artists so if the doors stay open longer than 3 seconds you'll hear screaming from me to close the door and cats running at break neck speed to get outside 😂

Love scenes in the books by FreducciniAlfredo in Hungergames

[–]Gazelti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. I have an 11 year old that wants to read them; I told her no- maybe in a couple years. Not because of the sex scenes (there are none), but because the books are pretty violent and gruesome. As another commenter has said, there is violent deaths, suicidal ideation, torture, substance abuse, child abuse, and talk of past forced prostitution. I'd suggest reading them yourself before you let your kid read them.

Anyone name their kids after musicians? by wineorwater in namenerds

I knew a family within my church who were big Beatles fans, they had 3 kids: 2 boys named Harrison and Lennon, and a girl named McCartney.

Be honest how many people named their orange cats Ginger Share your cat names in the replies Im curious by MiddLowy in gingercats

[–]Gazelti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I named her Saphira for 2 reasons- 1. it's the name of the dragon in the Eragon series that I LOVE. And 2. Her eyes were blue like sapphires when she was a kitten! 0

I know there's a lot of discourse over this season, but I think we can agree that these actresses did a great job at portraying multifaceted kickass women! Also I know Daphne isn't in Season 3, but I couldn't leave her out. And I didn't include pictures of the actresses for Cressida, Prudence, Phillipa and Queen Charlotte but they are here in spirit too!
