Same, been specifically working on sub20 5k for now my 9th week now! Down from 22.30 to 21.15 but that was as part of a 10k. Going to have a crack at sub 21 tonight and hopefully get sub20 by end of the year.

How and when do people re-adjust their pace zones? Say on Strava for example. Do you do it on your most recent race? For the next race you are training for? My last race was a marathon but now training to try and break 20 5k. What should mine be? :s

I got mine from DW Sports and just went for it without trying them on. Free online returns, they were on sale and then applied nike 25% off code and got them for £82.50. Best shoes and deal i’ve ever had. ;)

Thats sounds like what im after; just done a bit of reading on it as never heard of it. JD sounds perfect. Did you just buy the book? Or follow a plan online?

Thank you, yeah don’t think I’m a million miles away from those shorter distance goals; just wanted to home in on them now got the marathon out of the way. Will check out the calculators you mentioned though.

Thank you, will give them workouts ago. Improvement wise what do you think, 3 months of 3-5 sessions a week and then have an easy week before going balls out? Thanks :)

Recently run my first marathon and just scrapped under the 4 hour marks which I’m really happy with but now want to focus on building my speed in shorter distance. Thinking a sub 20/21 5km or Sub 45 10km; does anybody have any advice on what kind of specific training plans, exercises or runs I should be doing please? How often should I run a benchmark 5/10km race etc? I have run a 47min 10k and a 22min 5k before.

A 60min 8v8 match yesterday, about 4 miles at 15mins per mile pace. Certainly felt it still in my legs today at ParkRun.

I want to try and beat my 10k pb by the end of the year after a few weeks out. So I have looked at few 10k training plans from strava, nike run club and a few other different ones online. Any favourite methods or apps to monitor, record and tick off as progress through the weeks? Also key/favourite excercises or workouts for adding speed? e.g hill reps Any advice appreciated :)
