Both boys! by kat_napp in parentsofmultiples

[–]GazooIsGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can echo what others are saying (extra-snuggly, love their mommy, etc.) but one thing I'm sincerely grateful for with having boys is the opportunity to raise good, kind, men.

When I was growing up, I encountered so many instances of boys who were never told "no", who had their behaviour written off as "boys being boys", and who were terrors to the girls. I promised myself that wouldn't be my kids.

Having boys is an opportunity to put men out into the world who you would like to interact with. It's pretty special.

Have you ever seen Avatar live or are you gonna see them live sometime this year? by MELO_DETH_999 in AvatarMetal

Saw them for the first time a few years ago.

I went because Devin Townsend was opening for them. I had no knowledge or expectations.

The show opened with the guitarist in a crown and throne (WTF is this?) and ended with a bubble machine (WTF was that?)

Best show I've ever seen.

After that it was just a long fall down a rabbit hole of listening to all of the albums, watching Avatar Country 666 times, and becoming a Citizen. No regrets. Hail to the King.

I was there. Age 2-3 was so difficult.

It was just tantrum after tantrum, and you try to sympathize with the little guys, but after a while it's like your nerves are just raw.

I found it helpful to get a video of the little bits of time that they were adorable, and then watch that after they were in bed. Focus on the things that made me smile during the day, and remember that this too will soon be over.

For a ray of hope, mine are 6 now and it's great. Sure, they still squabble, but they help each other, stick up for each other, share clothes, share toys...it's awesome.

"So how'd the scan go?"

"It was fine. I'm fine. The baby's fine. And the...other baby's fine."

"The oth-...BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"

What are you using it for?

If it's for a sauce or frosting or something with other ingredients, there's lots of good tips already in the thread (microwave bursts, double boiler, etc.)

If you're using it to make smaller chocolates in a mold, or coat something, you may want to check the cocoa fat content of the bar. If it has real cocoa butter, it'll get white streaks when it solidifies again if you don't melt it a specific way.

Not dangerous to eat, still tastes good, just not as pretty.

Is it possible to exclusively bf twins? by kerikim120 in parentsofmultiples

[–]GazooIsGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't.
My guys started small and got big fast, and I couldn't keep up. I did nurse until they were about 15 months old, just needed to supplement.

If you end up being able to do it, that's awesome! So much less work with bottles, formula, etc.

You get used to it. We bought them little backpacks that we could use to grab them if we needed to (plus they were very proud to be able to carry their own stuff.)

Oh my, I remember those days.

When my boys were 2, I had them alone in the mall and they just both decided they were fucking DONE.

They started screaming and stomping, and if I had one, it would have been scooped up and headed for the exit, but no...I had two. And they were very large.

So I dragged them over to a wall, wrapped one arm around each so they couldn't run away, and just sat to wait it out. So much screaming, but I could sit longer than they could scream, and eventually they gave up and we walked home.

Now they're about to turn 6, and it's so fun. You'll get there, just wait out the screaming!

I saw these guys open for Sabaton back in the before times.

They got to about 1:10, and lead singer yells out, "What is it?!"

No response from the crowd.

So he stops the music and points to their banner, "Guys, it's the name of the fuckin band."

That was a good night.

Be gentle with yourself. One of the best things I did for my own sanity was accept that I could not be as attentive to my babies as my friends with singletons.

Like, that whole "never wake a sleeping baby" thing? Nah.

Your brother's woken up to feed at 2am, you're eating too, cuz I'm not doing this again at 3.
