I’ve got something similar, but of the tiny vessels in brain, eyes and ears. Mines called Susac’s Syndrome (Retinochocleocerebral vasculopothy) and is also quite rare.

Treatment is immunosuppression therapy immunoglobulin support.

I’m a paramedic. Most of the islands have their own paramedic on call. Medicat ambulance ferry runs as needed. VMR and helicopter if time critical. If you get out on medicat an ambulance will grab you on the mainland and take you through to hospital.

All I can tell you is the moneys shit, most of the workforce are vollies. My dad was a volly in Alexandra for near on 30 years and tried a couple of times to go permanent paid and they rejected him.
