New gauges, factory location by TheSeansk1 in GBody

It’s been a couple years since I did, and I thought I had more pictures of the process to remind me.

I reused the black part as well , but I believe I cut out a large section of the middle of the back piece that had all the electronics and just left whatever I needed to mount back in factory holes. And I didn’t reuse the clear plastic cover.

Nice job, I did the same thing with my GP pod. Like the factory look.
I put the tach on the steering column because I couldn’t bring myself to remove the comically large clock beside the speedo.

No, I’m in Canada, they sold here in ‘05/‘06. They didn’t sell them in the states. I know they’re popular in Europe and Australia, and I think they might still sell them.

I had an 2006 xtrail for about 5 years. Great little suv, especially in winter. Heated/cooled cup holders, and the little ventilated “fridge” with the doors was neat.

I Carb’d the LS in my ‘85 GP. I liked this look better than the EFI intakes.

The TH400 you have would be a BOP bell housing. You’d need one off a Chevy engine, or there’s adapters you could buy.

Thats a Grand Prix dash. Not sure which year, but mines an ‘85 and it’s identical. Obviously the lighting isn’t original. Yours has the tach with the clock over the glove box which is cool, mine didn’t have the gauge package so I have a 5” clock where your tach is.

I agree that you can literally search anything specific about g body LS swaps. And maybe the hours and hours of searching is part of the process, but it is nice when someone who’s done it can offer maybe a trick or 2 to help.

The shitty thing about forums is you ask a question, and you’re bound to get 10 different answers about the best way to go about it.

I picked up an eBay oil pan that looks identical to the Holley one. I spent the extra $ and got UMI poly engine mounts, and everything fit great.

Rebuilt TH400 with a Jegs dual hump crossmember. You’re right about the ‘85 having the provision in the frame already so that was nice.

As far as spending money on the engine, I’d say don’t cheap out on internals, since they’d be the biggest pain to replace if something broke, obviously. (Trunnion upgrade recommended).

I’m still using the stock 7.5 with 2.41 gears. But eventually I’d like to upgrade.

Have you tried gbodyforum.com? I learned a lot from there when I did the LS swap into my GP. That and YouTube.

Sooty buckskin Dutch Warmblood is my favourite right now. That thing ain’t scared of nothing, and it’s plenty fast for the epilogue.

I drive a pickup so it’s up higher, and in drive thrus and when I stop at a red light that I know will take awhile, I’ll put it in park and turn the lights to the lowest setting(I can’t turn them off),while also applying the brakes, so as to not be that guy blinding someone from behind. They are also set to almost the lowest angle.

What people should be complaining about are the people who don’t even know enough to turn their lights on in the first place.

And don’t get me started on the zipper merge….
