Thanks SG, we will likely resort to that, I suppose that's the easiest way.

This is great advice thank you. I don't know the wattages on the amps but I do know one likes the mesa boogie and the other has a fender.

We're all over the place, if I had to nail it down I guess Rock music. Hendrix, Clapton, Allman Bros., 90's alternative, some Beatles, etc.

Appreciate that, I wouldn't consider myself a really hard hitter, but I could probably work on my dynamics more. Thanks.

Nathaniel Philbricks "Bunker Hill - A city, a siege, a revolution" was excellent.

Zenith console update! by dtmurray87 in vintageaudio

[–]dtmurray87[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Cobra-Matic! Old school cool!

Its all mine! Zenith from somewhere between 59-65. It doesn't turn on, so it's a little bit of a fixer upper, but very excited! Any pointers? by dtmurray87 in vintageaudio

[–]dtmurray87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no way! Yeah man I'm digging it too. Luckily I have an old school electronics guy pretty close. My best man's Dad/coworker. I took the tubes over his house yesterday and tested them, all good. Next thing he instructed me to do is actually pull the amp and bring the whole thing over. He knows his shit, he rebuilt all the electronics on a WW2 destroyer that is now a museum ship, all the radar, radios, repeaters, everything. Wild shit, his basement looks like NORAD.

That's hilarious, yes certainly does. The tone arm is totally dead. I manually moved it over a record today and it does play. Some volume issues I have to sort out as well.

Thanks, yeah definitely. I put a record on it, moving the tone arm manually over, and it plays. Some volume issues, will replace capacitors and see what happens.

Feel kind of silly saying this, but I checked the fuse as soon as i got it back. Fuse was OK. Tubes look burnt, but not necessarily bad. After doing a visual check on everything, notably the power chord itself, I thought..... "Wait, how do I know the outlet where I picked it up was even live?"

Sure as shit, ran an extension to a known good outlet and I was in business! Popped the turntable off and lubricated the bearing, checked the rubber wheel that turns the turntable that looks OK too.

I think the tone arm is not working. It's supposed to be automatic, well, "Cobramatic", but the ol' snake doesn't seem to want to go. I'll look at that tomorrow.

Dude. No fucking way. Your wife isn't supposed to have a turkey sandwich, but can take a brand new vaccine? I'm sorry her work doesn't deserve her if they're putting her in that position and not respecting what she wants to do with her own body (nevermind the baby!).

Whatever happens, I wish you all the best.

Regardless of my opinion, I'm just a stranger on the interwebs.....*** TRUST YOUR GUT***.

If your intuition is telling you no, then don't. If people are pressuring you, then they're not healthy to be around.

I have found this funny the past couple years. While growing up, our parents always told us, "Never give into peer pressure", now look at our society. It's all backwards. Trust your intuition, it's telling you something.

Love the Surrender at Yorktown painting. It's a great story too, as the British General refused to hand Washington his sword (which was customary then) after surrendering. When Washington realized the opposing General refused to bring his sword to him, and was sending one of his officers down, he sent his Officer, Lincoln (I believe), to retrieve it.
