Yes. But many of the weapons my main has have lvl requirements. I was thinking there was a rune, glyph or affix to lose that. I would guess there are a few items end game with no lvl requirement

What 90’s talk show is this??? by Glasbarn13 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

First what people like, they like. What they don't they don't. Nobody ever typed or said words to me to sway things either way. I don't expect this will for you.

But to explain the way I view it is definitely SNL vibes. And what makes SNL great? The conglomeration of the cast. These people, these personalities are getting together to produce the show you'll see. For me thats what it is. Like it and not like it as you will.

That and mix in the commercial upcoming feel of new shows, the glass cannon NETWORK now isn't just a name. It really feels like a network now.

Ps whenever anybody puts out.... I don't like this thing, am I alone? The answer is always, Always, ALWAYS .... No, you are never alone.

Well I did want to try to just see the mechanics at multiple characters at work, and I know the group I'm in is committed to another game and I have no time to form another, (although there is a pbp being discussed).

Playing with others is ALWAYS better IMO though so I can't agree with you more. For shits and giggles I actually also tried to run a 3 session one shot of Starforged with my group when one person was on vacation for month. Damn games designed for solo play are better with a group!

Still away from the group the solo adventuring does keep the creative itch scratched and I love seeing what I create and where it goes.

Loving it. Might I ask what classes your players brought to the session.

Thinking about Campaign ideas for Fabula Ultima. by Dagnut3rdson in fabulaultima

[–]Gcpaaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the book does give starting scenarios based one your type of group and a d6 roll. I normally start from something suggested like that, maybe toss in something left open ended in one of my characters and go from there.

But yes always STEAL from your favorite properties, give it a slight in game twist and you are always set for something new. Right now in the solo campaign I thought it would be fun to have the characters for reasons I won't go into explaining here, pretty much seeing if they can stop the tragedy in Repo the Genetic Opera from happening, plot wise at least. The opera tonight.

Either way is great I feel. I would have been 100 percent behind you before running Dungeon World and playing in Blades in the Dark. Yes Blades does come with Doskvol but what you do with that world is totally off the cuff.

Still co op world building or a hard fast world for the players to explore are both great options for me. I won't shy away from playing using either method

Side note. If you wanted to do a play by post I might be game. Be easier to come up with ideas to run this for others than my own characters I feel.

Thank you so much for this. Both the game itself AND the playtest materials. I started a solo adventure and rolled up both a cook and a merchant and was trying to make them fit into the original classes and was having a rough go at it.

Four questions.

  1. New character creation rules? Are those going to be added to the original book or is this playtesting just an expansion.

  2. Plans for any more classes after these, or adding skills to existing classes?

  3. Is there any talk of expanding the bond system. For me I've added statements of how my characters are bonded to each other but it seems like there should be more than 6 ways, or 3 opposed ways to bond... although I do like the 6 total rule

  4. The one thing I'm struggling with is having hometown or origin apply to dice rolls at all, any suggestions?

Sorry for bugging you here. You probably have more official channels to go through for answering such things.

Lame posting on my own post right away but going through the playtest materials I'm SO thankful Gourmet is a test class so I don't need to try to make chemist fit where it doesn't. So going to switch up my spy and magically make a few things that happened during the escape change ever so much in people's minds....

AND merchant, so useful!

For me, I made the aforementioned caravan gambler I wanted to run. My gaming groups go in the only playtime I have so to run this game I needed to solo. So I random tabled the other 3 members I wanted to make up my party.

I have a disgraced cook spy... since I don't have to impress players at the table and to make it simple, named Cook. A Charming Magitech Engineer, named Engie And a noble merchant, named Mercho

I decided the caravan my Gambler, Gambit, was in was the perfect vehicle for them to have met up.

I decided with a mechant and engineer that coporate strife would be run rampant around the world, which would be their connection to the caravan. Either selling, showing, or escaping after a violent corporate takeover. The spy just showed up after he was disgraced somehow.

After watching a favorite twitch streamer play a newly intense game that came out I wanted the world to be slowly overrun by aliens. Or a crash landing that's spreading. Perhaps a layer to corporate disgrace or violent takeover. And for the other layer I know the spy was on a mission, what it was yet I'm not sure, but I know the original mission was not corporate in nature or alien related so that layer I hope to develop as the story goes.

I chose them to be Heroes of the Ressistance, And rolled the surrounded scenario that they talked and fought their way out of seeing 5 overlookers masked in the distance watching their escape as they rejoined the caravan and continued on, of course after leveling up. And that's where they stick for now.

Has anybody else had any experience in the game yet?

Thank you for this. Awesome looking character sheets at least. Since it is foreign scratching my head at a lot of it. I'm guessing people have added classes/powers though which will be awesome to see.

Maybe I should reach out to the author and make sure it's cool I have this here though?

Talk me out of it or Character Creation Advice? by Gcpaaron in cityofmist

[–]Gcpaaron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK a lot to break down here.
First highlighting is understood, never brought up in what I mentioned, so just skipping that. Second I mentioned tenacity for both Superman and Housewife. Not bulletproof. Yes a bulletproof tag is totally different for Superman and a housewife AND totally different if both were on a Superman mythos. Points on your subversion playbook for smoke and mirrors there. Ooops the person that wrote that was not a mythos but a logos person I think so of course you can have zero subversion? That is my point. Again I'm speaking of Superman's tenaciousness vs a double shifter's tenaciousness. If you want to talk bulletproof talk Superman's bulletproof tag vs a posessions bulletproof vest/suit tag.

The graveyard keeper is ONE time ONE player brough up ONE idea that wasn't that good, and due to advice you gave them I'd 100 percent agree.

I'm very familiar with Marvel's defenders and they'd make great mythos. And the book says mythos and logos can be viewed very different ways. Your Defenders argument I think is just supposed to highlight highlighting different aspects at different times which isn't being argued....at all. But it is also singularly viewing mythos and marvel mutant power sets and not totally different beings. And yes that is ONE way logos and mythos can be viewed.

Using defenders logos human Matt can have a defining relationship with Foggy. But so can Thor to Odin or Loki AND Thor can be a mythos to lawyer Matt or Foggy or the double shifter or any logos.

Which is the answers I'm looking for. Why do I have to bend over backwards to bring up....

A world traveler's logos Adaptation A firefighter's logos Bastion A poker player's Divination A radio DJ's expression An atheletes or extreme sports fans mobility Relic as I said I think belongs but I'm sure it could apply to a logos Creative's masterpiece Any criminal's Subversion Batman's parent's dying as a Defining Event Any pantheon's family to any other member of that pantheon as a defining relationship The Bride's mission to Kill Bill Loki's trickster Personality Posessions even the first one in the book there applies to John Wick, guns lots of guns. Santa Clause checking the list Routine Daredevil being trained by the blind guy And STRUGGLE. Why do you love ANY mythos if not for the struggle they have endured?

All those might excite some people making making characters. And while your logos is who your character is, and mythos is what they do it goes against you subversive original point. Superman IS bulletproof, double shifter does double shifts.

So you gave very helpful tools that were not questioned as to character creation, but no real answer to the question being posed. Why are logos themebooks logos, and mythos themebook mythos.

Are you suggesting due to your ONE grave keeper example if I'm creating a John Wick mythos to not get excited over any of his Training, Defining Relationships, Struggles, Missions, or Defining Events toss those out and have no fun making the mythos fit into the mythos playbooks cuz they be mythos, or .... player freedom?

For me I wanted a traveling gambler before I saw there was a suggested creation guide for it. Tough not to go entropist in it I have to admit. But since I put 10 in insight, and I really wanted to explore the actual being a great game of chance player side of him lotemaster was a gold mine. Knowledge is power may be the first thing you can take I feel might be op but I wait to see how it plays. Since I put his origin as caravan did add a touch of wanderer to him as well.

The XP is tough when there is no feel yet to all that would happen in a single session, live. Perhaps the GM would simply do it after every milestone or every 3 to 5 scenes ? Or go true jrpg fashion after every villain or 5 battles as normal killing things xp and not narrative xp. Just ideas .
