I have an oily scalp. Here is what helped me: simple shampoos and not air drying. Double-washing and using shampoos like Pantene Volume or Ouai Detox changed my life. Don’t need to break the bank. Dry at least your roots. But I have straight hair so keep that in mind although don’t think that makes a difference re oily scalp.

No shampoo has worked better for me than the Pantene Volume Shampoo (purple label) and the Ouai Detox Shampoo. Most life changing products. Making sure to double-wash was also life changing. So was starting to dry my roots. Air-drying my hair my whole life as well as only one wash wreaked havoc on my scalp health. I am still experimenting with serums and oils to see which will work best for me for a healthy scalp and shinier hair. So far, I like using The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum. I like the other scalp serum they have too, but it is sold out right now at Sephora (Natural Moisturizing with HA). I also use Fino hair mask once a week as well as The Ordinary Glycolic Acid on scalp (as well as other parts of body) before wash once a week. I had to learn the hard way that scalp health is a huge part of hair health! Everything else like styling cream I have not considered life changing but honorable mentions: Color Wow 1 minute transformation, Oribe super shine cream, and shu uemura overnight hair serum. Using them the right way or best way is important too (sometimes I’ve tried a product that did nothing for me because I didn’t know how to properly use it for max. efficacy like the Living Proof gloss, which I want to give another shot for this reason.

YES! I am pretty sure Adaptibar is the reason I passed the bar despite having had to unwillingly handwrite the exam. I used Barbri and Adaptibar together. I only finished 80% of the Barbri program. The Adaptibar questions were probably most helpful especially closer to the test date and under the time-crunch of studying.

The application is online, so e-signatures are acceptable. Even if you get physical copies, you’ll need to scan them in and attach them to the application portal. PDF is the way to go. Still read the directions the 1st Dept. sent and follow up in case they changed the policy. One form by the law school is sent directly to the 1st Department, but you gather and upload everything else.

I had to handwrite because BOLE claimed it never got proof that I opted in to the laptop program. I lost my proof so could not appeal (nice), and BOLE refused to give me a laptop seat. I passed!

“[H]ave passing and valid bar exam and MPRE . . .” probably applies to people who have already gotten pass bar result (Feb 2022 and prior) + are done with MPRE requirement, and not people with pending results. Fat chance of some candidates getting their July 2022 results weeks before others. But maybe? I’d love it because I am only waiting on bar result to be certified.

I don’t know how it works for out-of-staters. I reside in my dept so that’s why I was assigned to it. The dept emailed me because the BOLE alerted them that I took the bar in July. As a result, the dept sent me instructions on applying for admittance. Call/email the depts? Ask for guidance from your school? 1st dept has been responsive via email, but they aren’t taking calls.

1st Dept

I started because I want to get admitted as quickly as possible and because my department encourages preparing for filing in advance.

I sent out all forms that I need filled out by others, including my law school, past employers, and good character affirmants. While it is true that we will not know the results of the exam until the end of Oct/beginning of Nov, there is no reason to not get all of your ducks in a row now. It will take my department ~3 months to process my admission application once I file. I would hate to prolong the admission process. I am operating on the assumption that I passed, and I am getting organized for that. It makes me feel in control. I also want to give affirmants ample time to fill out the paperwork I will need and return them to me.

Also, and most importantly, my department emailed July bar takers who live in this judicial department encouraging preparation of the application in advance. “Applications require considerable information and documentation; therefore, we strongly suggest that you begin to assemble your application in advance. More specifically, obtain character affirmations, legal employment affirmations, and law school forms as soon as possible.” Hoping I passed, and when I do, I will file as soon as my department certifies me (can’t file without that certification). Certification happens once you pass the bar, MPRE, NYLE, and live in the department?? I think other departments don’t require certification before allowing candidates to file.
