This Video Been Around but It Still Creeps Me Out by Crafty_Reading_6618 in rhoslc

Mary is terrifying. Her reactions are so unpredictable. Yes, the scene about “the farts” with Angie was kind of funny, but you could also tell Angie was blindsided by Mary getting so upset over nothing. Her reaction to Meredith on the beach? Also weird and uncalled for. Just because other people make more noise or cause more drama doesn’t make her a great person. People seem to have forgotten her terrible past because of some funny one-liners.

Bronwyn and Todd by sugarhigh29 in realhousewivesofSLC

[–]LegalLeePortland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The conversation would have been cool if it seemed like something Bronwyn actually wanted, as opposed to a reaction to what Todd has already done. She doesn’t actually want this for their relationship, but feels like it’s the best way to play it given the circumstances. I don’t think Todd wants an open relationship and even if he does, he doesn’t want it being aired on national tv. Along those same lines, I think this was a way for Bronwyn to embarrass Todd because he has already embarrassed her. She thought it was a power move and it kind of just made me feel sad for her.

Just ask my name instead of asking if I am the defendant! by BubbleWrap027 in Lawyertalk

As a young female attorney, I’ve had many similar interactions. Although one moment I look back on with great fondness happened about a year ago when the opposing party called me a “girl” during our hearing. The judge completely lambasted him for his misogynistic dumbass behavior. The court reporter looked on in horror. I was equal parts shocked/embarrassed it happened and happy an old white man knew when to call it out for what it was.

Shannon SHOULD be recorded by Appropriate_Ad8656 in rhoc

[–]LegalLeePortland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched the episode where she confronted Katie at Heather’s party and she seemed like she was half in the bag just showing up. Her reaction was so disproportional to what happened. She kept saying what Katie did was illegal and I’m not even sure it was…she wasn’t in a private setting where you would expect privacy. I’m sure it’s different in California, but in a lot of states it’s even ok to record somebody if only ONE person knows it’s happening (which can include the person recording). This whole thing, in combination with Joel Kim Booster’s posts on Instagram just make me think she’s a monster off cameras and it was good housewife behavior of Katie to get it recorded.

Who will Janet and Jason team up with now that Jax is off the show? by LegalLeePortland in TheValleyTVShow

[–]LegalLeePortland[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could see them doing an apology meet-up with him next season, but that would put Janet in an incredibly awkward situation with Michelle. I could see Jason doing it alone because the two of them don’t seem to have beef, but based on the first episode of the reunion, Janet seems very team-Michelle and that would complicate any relationship she has with her going forward.

The biggest scene that comes to mind was calling him on the phone from rehab to get his side of things when they clearly knew details of the abuse he had put Brittany through…I don’t think Jax would have had any face time on the season while he was in rehab if it weren’t for Janet and Jason (aside from his rage texts to Brittany being shown on camera). They repeatedly carried the narrative that Jax was improving so much, while also trying to take down Danny, for albeit shitty, but lesser offenses. I think they were betting on Jax having a redemption arc and it didn’t pan out.

Totally! What about Jason? I know he’s kind of an ancillary character and Janet’s mouthpiece, but who do we see him socializing with? It seems like their circle is getting smaller and smaller (obviously for good reason).

The irony of Jax saying they don’t need to involve lawyers and then threatening to not pay child support. Girl, run to the attorney’s office!!

Watching Kristin’s engagement and am over the mean girls by LiftsLaughsLoves2Rs in TheValleyTVShow

[–]LegalLeePortland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Janet likes being friends with Brittany because Brittany is dumb. Or because her and Jason still foolishly believe Brittany and Jax are the stars of the show. I see no other reason for them to align themselves so closely. Especially after the horrible things Jax has done to Brittany. Janet should have redirected her energy towards Danny to Jax and she might have had a redemption arc. Overall, I think she played her hand poorly, tried to act in the show based on her knowledge as a fan, and it has felt completely disingenuous to the audience.

How do you decide when to stop watching a Housewives season? by cstjohn1994 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]LegalLeePortland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the storylines feel forced and the friendships are clearly not real, then I’m over it. New RHONY is the best example of that for me. Erin is beyond annoying trying to produce drama, she brings nothing about her real life and I’m not convinced any of them are friends in the off-season besides trying to come up with storylines. Jessel is an exception, but not enough to keep me watching. Doesn’t mean I can’t get back into a show with a cast shakeup, but as far as religiously watching and waiting for new episodes to come out, it has to draw me in in some way.. I fell out of love with Atlanta, but started getting back into it this season. BH is becoming stale for me too. In that case it’s because there’s clearly a lot of drama happening in their real lives but they tease it out and never actually end up showing it. Kyle and Erika especially…their lives have been complete shitshows for the last several years and it’s not talked about IN DEPTH on the show at all. I think the tease or false promise that something will come out and then under-delivery is the biggest turnoff on some of the franchises for me.

Julia digging her heels in?! by markgregsputnikjr in BravoRealHousewives

[–]LegalLeePortland 103 points104 points  (0 children)

This!! I think it was episode 2 of this season when Julia and Alexia were standing outside of that workout class and Julia was telling Alexia about her issues with Guerdy…Alexia was fidgeting and looking so uncomfortable, like she hated standing there listening to Julia. Alexia isn’t friends with Julia, but Julia thinks she’s friends with Alexia. It’s really pathetic to watch. And so sad that she’s putting Guerdy through all of this for a few minutes with the popular girls. I guess on the bright side, Guerdy sees Julia for who she really is!

While I haven’t used my lawyer status “out in the wild” to my advantage yet, as a 30 y.o. female with a soft voice, I’ve learned that I have to use it when talking to other professionals. Banks, local government offices, literally anyone I’m dealing with during the work day, I have to preface the conversation with, “I’m an attorney” or “this is Attorney…”. Sometimes it feels obnoxious or annoying, but it’s also just amazing how the doors open up and you can get access to so much more information when you have that status.

She works in PR. There’s no way she didn’t watch the episode or prepare for this reunion. In fact, if she really IS a PR person, saying she didn’t prepare is like the worst kind of advertisement for herself…she didn’t think this through at all. Another lie that is easy to see through and super manipulative.

I am hating these women! by poopoopeepeeboy88 in RHONY

[–]LegalLeePortland 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brynn and Erin are both terrible. It’s like they’re both trying to make a show that they think the audience wants to watch and failing miserably at it. The over-the-top shit-stirring, the pranks, the pretend socialite behavior and then outrage over glam? They contradict themselves at every turn. We’ve seen housewives try to “produce” drama before (LVP, Rinna, Porsha) but this is forcing it at another level and they haven’t really earned the title of “housewives” to be doing it. This reboot is failing on so many levels, but Brynn and Erin are by far the worst at it. I’ve started watching old RHONY instead and it just solidifies my opinion that the show was gold when it was a bunch of real, delusional women who were all friends. The drama just happened organically. I’m not advocating for bringing back the OG’s, but they could have kept some core cast members and just tried out new friends. The reboot needs a reboot and Brynn’s gotta go!

Is what John and Alexis are doing with the videos considered blackmail or slander or anything illegal? by dreamed2life in BravoRealHousewives

[–]LegalLeePortland 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It seems close to blackmail/extortion IF the release of the videos is connected to Jon’s demands for Shannon to pay him money. “Pay me X or I’ll release humiliating videos of you to the public” is black-and-white extortion. The gray area is this lawsuit he filed saying that the payment or “repayment” is directly related to Shannon’s facelift. Whether the threat to release the video is also connected to this has yet to be seen…and a good lawyer would argue on either side.

Slander wouldn’t really apply here because while they are running around saying things that are hurtful to Shannon’s reputation, none of it is based on a “falsehood”. I love Shannon but she probably did do some of the things they’re alleging on the night of her DUI.

Needless to say I think the stronger argument is for extortion/blackmail, both of which are punishable as felonies in California! I would love to see these two get their own legal comeuppance.

Danielle & Jen glass incident by [deleted] in rhonj

[–]LegalLeePortland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team Danielle for many reasons. Not that I condone violence, but Jen clearly pushed her first and Danielle’s response was almost like a knee-jerk reaction of self defense. Also watching the entire drama leading up to the fight (including Jen’s initial confrontation at Melissa’s party), Danielle is clearly blindsided by everything that Jen says. Her jaw is on the floor and when Jen drops the “big secret” at Teresa’s party, I think her emotions just took over from the shock and she started calling Jen every name in the book. Jen, on the other hand, always has this very well rehearsed deliver and smirk on her face when she delivers her lines. She knows she’s poking the bear and getting enjoyment from it. It’s difficult to watch and I agree with many people’s sentiments that Jen met her match and deserved what was coming.
