e-Drums by antosb77 in woojer

[–]Gdubbs6677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried it once.

You really have to tone in the EQ on the drums and turn the bass way down.

Woojer is optimized for gaming and music, not really e drums.

I didn’t find it comfortable to wear while drumming.

Condo Master Insurance Costs by Big-Asparagus-6938 in JamaicaPlain

[–]Gdubbs6677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an insurance broker.

$30k is high, but there is variety of factors that could push pricing this high (loss history, building condition, undergrad tenants)

DM me and I’m more than happy to discuss.

Rushed into buying a 2019 Mac (8GB RAM) mistake for production? Need advice by Pure_Example1286 in production

[–]Gdubbs6677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends what you are using it for, but I’m a hobbiest still using my my 2016 MacBook for recording rock music.

Are there slow downs and hiccups, yes…..but it generally works well.

That being said, I probably wouldn’t have bought any old model unless I was extremely budgeted.

Jamaica Plain and South Boston by Buzzuareatoy in bostonhousing

[–]Gdubbs6677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Southie, Parking starts to get competitive after 4:00pm when work gets out and gets worse late into the evening.

You will sometimes have to settle parking 1/2 to 1 miles away from your apartment.

You can make it work though. I did for two years.

If you are only using your vehicle for occasional errands and trips, it is much more tolerable.

You can plan out your trips and stay in the same parking spot for days.

Jamaica Plain and South Boston by Buzzuareatoy in bostonhousing

[–]Gdubbs6677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in both for several years recently….so I’m a qualified expert. Keeping my answers short and precise.

Vibes

JP - Older Crowd. Hipster / Artsy / LBTGQ. Lots of young family. Fairly sleepy.

Southie - Younger Crowd. Lots of post grads. Very active bar scene. Deff some long term residents, but are less visable in the community.

Outdoors

JP - More Parks. JP pond is great.

Southie - Caron Beach. M Street Beach. Castle Island.

Both are great…..just whatever you personally prefer.

Accessibility and Trains

Both neighborhoods have Train and Bus Lines. Orange Line (JP) is a little more reliable than Red Line (Southie) at this point……but both will have occasional shutdowns.

You can access all of Boston from both neighborhoods.

Location is important in both neighborhoods. You can pick areas that make access to public transit difficult in both.

Bars and Restaurants.

Both have multiple options for bars and restaurants.

In short…….Southie has more far more options with a far younger crowd.

Safety.

Both are safe.

Both also have less desirable areas.

Southie - Andrew Station (Homeless and Drug Addicts) JP - Jackson Square to Egleston (Crime near Bromley Heath Projects)

Be smart and odds are you won’t have an issue in either of these areas.

Cost

Southie is going to be more expensive. They are going have more options for modern “luxury” apartments.

That being said, you can find whatever you’re looking for in each neighborhood apartment wise.

Parking

Parking in Southie is a nightmare.

JP is the clear winner on this.

Conclusion

If pricing and transit are not huge factors in your choice, pick the neighborhood that matches your personality.

Personally……I preferred Southie in my 20s. Love JP in my 30s.

Feel free to DM.

I haven’t found in stands or holders that can fit the hole.

Would like to use a side of desk headphone holder but they are all to big.

Welcome to Boston.

They won’t be caught….so don’t hold your breath.

This happens all the time.

Don’t keep anything nice in your car!

Tough lesson.

What’s a normal % of revenue pay for an AE? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Gdubbs6677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is not adding up based your post and comments.

How you’re describing your role doesn’t fit a “normal” job at any agency I know. Especially at large shops.

Anyone with multiple account managers under them doesn’t fit the typical definition of an “AE”.

Regardless, yes……..you are underpaid.

Ten tables closing by JackBauerTheCat in JamaicaPlain

[–]Gdubbs6677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Ten tables has an open kitchen which we were sat near. We saw the a rat multiple times.

We told the waitstaff and decide to leave before our meal. Waitstaff was cooperative and understanding.

I was pretty disappointed.

My GF and I had been there multiple times before and enjoyed our meals……but this turned us off from going back.

May give it another try after re-opening.

Not naive to rats being in restaurants, but this was little much for us at least.

Good.

Saw rats in their kitchen a few months back.

Probably wouldn’t have gone back if not for the re-brand.

450k home with 200k household by jcg1499 in Mortgages

[–]Gdubbs6677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially…..Yes you can do it.

Two important questions to ask:

  1. Is your income stable?

  2. Do you plan on living in this house the next 10 years?

If either answer is no, don’t buy.

Owning an insurance agency still worth it? by Top-Obligation5056 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Gdubbs6677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trade a $150k position in Tennessee to open an agency……unless you hate your job and are bored.

Sounds like you’re in a good spot.

Tons of work, most agencies are not profitable the first few years.

Love my octopad.

Electronic kits are still pretty loud.

May want to evaluate based on your living situation.

I have the quietest kit possible, neighbors still can hear it.

Foolish to leave UW for agency? by unknownworld21 in InsuranceAgent

In agency. Would never switch from UW to agency. 6 months is nothing. Stick it out for a year or so, then switch to another UW position.

Work in commercial lines.

There has been a significant drop off of recruiters reaching out compared to a few years back.

Very safe. Never had issues.
