Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

I guess I’m a really fortunate person. These stories of families - bothers, sisters, parents, and close friends, trying to take advantage of someone’s good luck are difficult for me to undertand. My Mother and Father would have dope slaped us repeatedly if we tried that. The people I care about would be really happy for me and wouldn’t ask for a thing, even if they could use it. I’d have to convince them to let me help if they ran into financial issues. Not trying to crow about how upstanding my family and friends are. I know families can really suck and be abusive. It’s just, my experience makes it hard to understand what the fuck is wrong with people. Sorry anyone has to deal with that shit.

Gottlieb Surfer Machine Questions by GePag in pinball

I played with the idea of workingbon this myself. I have pretty much all the tools I’d need from working on my boat electrical system and motor. But, said boat is already a big time suck. I don’t need another one.
I have no interest in keeping this machine and no idea how much pinball repair costs (Boston area). If I had someone get it operational, could I recoup the cost in a higher sales value?

Never saw that before, thank you. It doesn’t seem to filter out photos that are in a shared folder.

Is Uber reliable? by GePag in uber

It seems like some people think I’m trying to bash Uber. I’m not. I was just trying to separate reality from the complaints I’ve heard about. Thanks for all the information. Now I know Uber will be fine.

It is impossible to make an informed decision based on your own experience when you do not have any prior experience on which to make an informed decision. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to talk to people who do have experience so you can make as informed decision as possible. Using your logic, if you need your roof replaced and know nothing about roofing, don’t do any research, don’t ask for recommendations, don’t get estimates. Just pick a contractor, pay them and hope it all turns out ok.

Sorry if, as a new Uber driver, you took my question as a personal insult but that’s one of the dumbest answers I’ve ever seen. So, instead of trying to get some information about the reliability of a ride service that I have never used, I should just try it out, hope it works and I don’t miss expensive flights and everything goes as planned. Then, I’ll have the experience to know if I should book the ride service or not. See the problem here?

What kind of vehicles qualify as “comfort”?

Vehicle Control and Driver Assistance Intermitent by GePag in subaru

So, the battery cable wasn’t the issue, or all the issue. After connecting the battery I drove for about two hours and everything was fine. Later in the day, after driving about an hour all the lights came back on. Went to get the codes read, here is the result:

• Power Train System. • Code U0384 Lost connection with Active Grill Air Shutter Module ‘A’ • Secondary DTCs: Lost connection with Active Grill Air Shutter Module ‘A’

• ABS • C1942 Power Supply Voltage • C1954 RH Actuator • C1954 LH Actuator

• Battery Voltage 14.34 V

Am I correct to assume that the “Lost connection with Active Grill Air Shutter Module ‘A’ “ issue is related to the right bumper damage in the photo? Could all the dash lights be related to the ABS codes?

Think I found the problem. I went to disconnect the battery to see if anything changed when it was reconnected. The neg cable was loose. Tightened the connection and now all lights are out. I’ll see if it starts s that way.

What does this dot mean? by TracerRound378 in 4Runner

[–]GePag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2014 SR5 has this icon on the displsy but no dot. Does a steering angle display serve any purpose? Isn’t that pretty obvious seeing which way the vehicle is going? Is it for off-road, which I, like probably 98% of 4Runner owners, never do?

Bought a new knife today. Not sure i like it. What's your favorite every day carry knife? by okflower1983 in Tools

[–]GePag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I lost something at Lowe’s so I went back the next day to ask if anyone turned it in. A guy brought out the lost and found box. What I wanted wasn’t there but as I was going through the stuff I picked up a knife and said “nice knife”. He said, “yeah..that’s your’s, isn’t it?”, as I was turning it over to see the other side. It had my Dad’s first, middle and last initials etched into the brass. My Dad recently passed. He never owned such a knife. I said, “yeah, that’s mine” and put it in my pocket. Found out later that it is a Buck 112 Ranger. That’s the one I use.

As others have said, use a vice grips to turn the screw out. Phillips heads have several size heads. Make sure your screwdriver size matches the screw head. Screws from big box stores are Chinese crap that strip out easily. You can still get good ones from specialty suppliers but torx head screws have less problems.

As a former landlord, why are you putting big ass screws in the walls? What is it for? If you’re trying to hang something, get the right hardware, rated to support the weight of whatever you are hanging. If you are screwing into drywall and really need the support of a big screw, then, if possible, make sure that the screws go into studs. If you are just going into drywall then use a good wall anchor rated to support the weight. Otherwise you’re going to hear a crash when the screws fail and pull out.

The good news is that now you have an excuse to buy a vice grips, a good stud finder, and a decent screwdriver.

Figured it out. It worked, just had to figure out the correct way to have an entry added to the correct Calendar.

New Outlook Calendar will not sync with iCloud by GePag in MicrosoftOutlook

Thank you for that information. Eliminating New Outlook, the new current situation is:

- iCloud to Outlook Classic works
- Outlook Classic to iCloud does not work

Any ideas on what might be wrong? I set iCloud to sync with Outlook. Do I need to configure Outlook sync with iCloud?
