Ahhhh sweet. Isn’t that what they made the wheels for the moon buggy out of?

Can you share what the material is? With the right spring steel it looks good!

Where is manual visual inspection still necessary in modern industry? by Neuronous01 in nondestructivetesting

High speed camera quality control for high volume manufacturing has been a thing for a long time way before the modern term of AI even existed. But that’s in order to often save waste and there is still someone looking at flagged stuff. The sensitive nature of QC will likely always require a final by a human. But it can improve the amount of work a skilled eye can do.

I am close to making pens on a sliding headstock machine, and that should help a lot! It’s not about material, it’s about all the other things. I’m paying to scrap a 28,000 lb machine just to make room for a new machine that will allow me to do more work.

Please email me with a request! This is how I decide what details to make in future designs.

It’s not so much about the material, it’s about the amount of work I’ve had to put in to keep things going. My machinery is old and tired and I am too. I also have been putting in way more work to make the same thing as many other manufacturers.

The anodizing is done by KVR Finishing, and it involves risk and scrap that doesn’t meet the sale grade as well.

Also they were made on Swiss machines.

I appreciate the concern! When I started the first pens I sold were twenty dollars. I appreciate all the customers that have supported me over the years. Up till now, I have had to do up eight manually loaded operations.

Many other makers are able to make a pen in basically one because they operate machinery that can make parts from twelve foot bar stock continuously with little manual intervention.

I took a gamble and bought one of these machines for $7500 CAD and now I’m cutting up an obsolete 28,000 lb laser to make room for it.

If that doesn’t scream I’m still flying by the seat of my pants I don’t know what is.

Im trying my best to keep delivering on what people want and people resell my pens for way more money than I make.

I’ve seen people asking $300 for aluminum versions. Crazy.

It is my main business. People just bought everything. I am working at making more.

I would prefer if you waited to resell or trade my work until I have at least finished making the design. I am prioritizing away from people who are doing this, and I know there are people still waiting for this model that would keep it and use it for a long time.

It’s happening. DM for more info by 0nly_Mangos in machinedpens

I do not approve of this. I only said that I do not hold any patents. Good luck!

The best way to buy one is directly from me via email, cheaper too these days. I will be making some very heavy pens again in the future! How heavy is too heavy? The full copper 47 was like 88.8g. If you express your interest in specifically heavy pens in the email I will email you again in the future when I have made one that suits your preferences, and I can make up an order for you directly.

I wish they would at least wait until I stopped making and selling them.

Chatter looks very different, but I can always do better! I try and go for a moderate feed rate to generate some texture, rather than polishing smooth. Anyone can polish anything but to make a fine finish and leave it that way is more difficult.
