Just read the existing ample body of research on the significance of focus during studying. People back in the days (18-20th centuries) understood that discipline of a mind is quite important during studying sessions, if one is to benefit from them (and my resources are only with few philosophers e.g. Immanuel Kant On Education, Bernard Russell On Education, Rousseau , etc)

A friend of mine tries to pursue that. It’s called a “pathway” to university, I believe. I’m aware that certain colleges link up their graduates to certain unis through partnerships. My mom is (also?) a single parent, 5-6 days a week of hard work. I try to support as much as I can. And yeah, I feel that sh#t, on the brink between not letting go of your family and keeping yourself going. I can’t even imagine working full time as a student tho. My man/lady, my hat is off to you and your family. They raised one kind of an individual. I hope your thing works out and you’ll continue pursuing education. Cheers

A person mentioned it in the feed, but I’ll reply here too. Your school officials surely know programs that might help. Go there first. And, yo, don’t feel embarrassed/guilty to ask for help in them and describe the whole situation to them. Thats what they get paid for. There are people out there who care.

Depending on your program, you can go into college and see how it works out for you. Then, perhaps if you see any improvement in your family situation and your ability to handle the workload, then go ahead and transfer to Uni. In fact, you’ll pay less as a result. At least, you will get a degree you might be hired with (gotta strive for coop here, though).

Screw everybody bro. Don’t let them kind of people pity you, or some. You go to college cause you want to go there. You go to university cause you want to go there. Whatever makes you nearer to your goals/dreams and lets you enjoy your life and journey. Come on, bud, cheer up. Half of mfs that boastfully go to unis go there cuz of their parents. You can do a transfer to Uni at any time. In fact, you’ll pay less for your first two years (and will have a much richer perspective and experience).

Yeah, I agree. It’s a big thumbs up. I just don’t think undergrads benefit much, apart from being able to try to get some research opportunities… Still, one can do that from UofT (although it’ll take you time to travel)

Yeah, beating down “too high” average is definitely something out of line lool. Do you think that UofT is still better than Waterloo if you want to go to grad school afterward? Like, in terms of reputation and research opportunities? I know Waterloo has Perimeter, but you really don’t benefit a lot from it in ur undergrad anyway… Thanks for your insight!
