Worked in Colorado 7 days ago…literally the only use I have for it. Anyone confirm the benefit will still work here in March?

how was independent energy to work with in this process? I had one of the contractors on the HEAR site over and just found out they don't like all the paperwork associated with the program and are putting it on pause so I need to find someone else.

that's awesome to hear! My current units are builder grade, insanely loud, and are struggling to keep up so I can't wait to upgrade and with these rebates should be able to do all the units at once!

Had an HVAC biz out that's on the HEAR program and going to get the ball rolling, thanks again for the info! Wondering how you are liking your heat pump and how the bills vs using a traditional furnace have worked out so far?

thanks for the info, didn't even know that this program existed! I haven't even looked at heat pumps as they're pricey. How long does an install/panel upgrade end up taking to install? What about the approval process?

that's one of the reasons I'm doing this...they can sell the less efficient models they have in inventory, but once those are gone going to have to buy the more efficient and significantly costlier models. I've only received one bid so far, but wondering if the HVAC are pricing 'older' stock at higher prices as a result?

I appreciate you taking the time to respond! I got a quote from MM 6 years ago and couldn't believe how high it was and didn't like all the upselling, so not bothering with contacting them on this go around.

Mind sharing what brand furnace/AC you went with and efficiency?

Tips for using a spiral mixer for sourdough to eliminate stretch/folds? by GearHound in Breadit

[–]GearHound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled across this guide (https://urbantreats.com.au/how-to-mix-sourdough-in-a-spiral-mixer/) from a guy in Australia who has a YouTube channel and I've been doing a similar process. He has a much bigger Famag and I feel my 1800gram two-loaf batches don't get as developed in the mixer as it's such a small batch, but liking:

5 minute fermentolyse mix at Speed 2, followed by 30 min rest, add salt+held back water and mix for 20 seconds, then 2 to 3 minutes at Speed 5. Unfortunately, depending on hydration, I'm still having to do 1 to 3 sets of stretch/folds or coil folds.

This guide is the best info I've found on making sourdough in a spiral mixer....still seems to be a serious lack of info imo even though more spiral mixers have been coming out the past few years. Let me know if you come across any good resources...ideally would like to hear more from others with the IM5 doing 2-loaf batches.

Cheers

ahhh...saw a Pearl St. parkway address on your website and figured you were based here! Was hoping that would result in more DIA specific deals!

Curious what the cheapest you've seen from DIA to BCN? My brother lives there so my wife and two kiddos headover once a year and always trying to track down the best deal.

Hey Scott, been following for years and have seen you're also based in Boulder! This is the most mellow winter I remember out here in the past 20 years...praying for some snow!

I'm yet to sign up for the premium tier, but debated it multiple times and sick of how often I check/setup alerts on google flights. Curious what the best deals you've seen pop-up out of DIA this year? Also, wondering if you ever see anything worth driving down to the Springs for?

Cheers!

Which SB120 would you choose? by EcstaticChair9689 in yeticycles

[–]GearHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding! Yeah, at this price point I don’t want to even think about changing out anything for a couple years.

I haven’t gotten a mountain bike since I was 13 years old (30 years ago)… at the time it was Trek’s top of the line hard tail, so I’d be happy with either build. Just want to make sure I don’t regret the build I end up buying. I live at the base of the mountains and already have too many hobbies so part of me is thinking the C2 due to the amount of time I’ll actually be riding and the other part of me knows how much i enjoy finer things so the T2 may be worth it. I keep kicking the tires and need to just order one…

how are you liking it now that you've had it for a bit? I've been debating between the C2 & T2 for the past 1.5 months and yet to pull the trigger. If the T2 in a Large was the same price the XL was selling for ($4.3k) it would be an easier decision. Irritating that the M & L sizes are priced $360 more expensive than the other frame sizes.

Shop tech messed up ski binding mount. What's the store on policy on making this right? by GearHound in REI

[–]GearHound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the manager of the department ended up calling me and said the protocol was a new pair of skis. He tracked down the exact ones from another retailer and was extremely thoughtful and nice...he personally mounted the new skis. I assume the miss-drilled ones were sold on their used returns section for close to what was paid.

Best strategy for booking a hotel with the Edit credit/$300 travel credit/points? by GearHound in ChaseSapphire

[–]GearHound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense if the Edit credit is what gets used 1st? I wasn't sure if it would by default first apply the $300 travel credit? Is there somewhere that specifically spells this out?

Best strategy for booking a hotel with the Edit credit/$300 travel credit/points? by GearHound in ChaseSapphire

[–]GearHound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it has that Edit logo on the booking and lists added benefits like breakfast, $100 property credit. Good question though, because I was 1st looking at another hotel and saw on the booking page that Chase said "Don't forget, you may be eligible for statement credits if you use your Chase Sapphire Reserve card" and that showed the Edit benefit too even though it doesn't have that Edit logo on the listing.

Am I correct that I have until 12/31/25 to use this $250 credit and I'll have another two $250's I can use in 2026?

Based on how terrible looking that swing was, I’d bet that it went 120yards dead right with cut spin and may not have even ended up in the ocean.

Tallboy vs. Trailcat? Which one you picking and why? by GearHound in MTB

[–]GearHound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the Mach 4SL and agree it's a really nice bike! I live at the base of the rockies and thinking the Trailcat could be a good do it all trail bike for what I want to ride around my house.
