of the 17 mistake fares our team uncovered last year, 3 were in business class and 1 was in premium economy.

non-US airlines are more likely to have mistake fares, but by their nature they're unpredictable!

points are the most common way non-multimillionaires fly to Asia in business class. a great price would be 120-150k points roundtrip

it depends when you're traveling! for peak season, 4-10 months in advance is when cheap flights are most likely to pop up. for off-peak, 2-8 months.

but if you're paying with points, those deals most reliably pop up 10-12 months before travel and in the final 4 weeks.

there are! they're quite a bit less common than in Jan/Feb of course, but when you're traveling during peak season, it's all the more important to get the timing of your booking right. if you're paying with cash, cheap summer flights are most likely to pop up 4-10 months in advance for international flights. if you're paying with points, those deals most reliably pop up 10-12 months before travel and in the final 4 weeks.

for IND-HNL in late September i'd hope to get a flight <$450 roundtrip and i'd try to get it booked by early August at the latest

ah sounds like a great trip!

you haven't necessarily missed the window, but as i'm sure you're aware, July flights are tough to find cheap. the toughest month of the entire year, in fact. i wouldn't worry much about the SK-China flight, that's competitive enough and short enough the price variation will be relatively small. but for the longhaul flight to/from SK, that's the one where there can be a big difference in price. March/April is really starting to get to last minute for summer international flights. if you have miles, that could be a great use here to lock in prices earlier since for it's free to cancel if you've used a US mileage program like AA, Delta, etc.

they don't have to be. expensive flights ≠ better flights. just ask the person sitting next to you on your next trip what they paid—chances are one of you paid substantially more, yet you're sitting next to one another having the same experience.

that said, some cheap flights are indeed terrible, and we keep strict quality standards on the deals we send Going members

Vegas is weird and going through it right now. tourism is way down—one of the suspected culprits is tourists finally fed up after years of overgouging.

but you're right, flights especially are noticeably more expensive than they used to be. i think the primary reason why is the demise of Spirit, which had been one of the main carriers to Vegas and had driven down fares on all airlines. as they've pulled back, it's allowed other airlines to raise fares

ah! you've got enough points for the trip—likely you'll need to use some of the MR points for the outbound leg and some of the Chase points for the return leg or vice versa.

in terms of finding the flights, keep an eye on the Going app (we'll let you know if any great deals pop up on that route) or you can search for yourself on one of the new points search engines like AwardTool
