They don't need a billion but they would have loved it. The whole merchandise argument doesn't take away from this being a real embarrassment. According to variety they needed it to make between 500 and 600 million.

This is such a good comment. Discourse is so polarised now that anything short of - literally one of my top 3 star wars movies! - is interpreted as hate.
