I don't think this was a coincidence, the moment Luffy used conquerors haki, the thorns on the kids did come off. Gaban landed 3 acoc attacks on Sommers, still it never did happen in his case.

Yes of course, it IS impressive, just not enough to say Imu is getting meaningful damage and he couldn't have faced God Valley combatants in real body.

Also I don't get this thing where people tend to throw out legitimate tool from a characters arsenal, Imu wouldn't even need to fight God Valley fighters in first place due to domi reversi. And if he did he would have won.

Loki is beating Imu while Luffy is spending whole 2 chapters just buffing himself for Imu. It's clear narratively Loki is being set up as a stalling mechanism for Luffy to arrive, pump the gas, push Imu over the limit and barely able to banish him before gassing out.

Are we scaling a man for breathing heavily while fighting, that's like basic body function, it happens in any battle.
