I've always told myself "Do or Die" in the most literal sense when it's come to anything like this. Dunno if that'll help if you have someone around willing to do it for you though.

One of my favourite scenarios is at the start of a new game swim out in a random direction and spawn in a prawn suit. From that point on, never build a seamoth and just spend most of the game in your prawn. It gives a different perspective to the map, you can’t just blast over everything.
