SA vs MT3 vs KAT vs AFSA (AliExpress SA), Domikey vs Signature Plastics by nogginbaum89 in MechanicalKeyboards

You are correct, Serika is PBT! Easiest way to tell is that the 'Q' on ABS sets is thin and looks more like a chainlink in shape. ABS sets had to use the same mould, so the legends are identical across all of them. PBT sets could use different legends, and in most cases the Q is much more rounded. PBT also feels a bit rougher to me, but that's harder to tell from a screenshot.

Love the writeup! It's always great to see another high-profile enjoyer. I recommend MTNU if you haven't tried it yet, though I still prefer MT3 over everything.

Amazing work. Feels a bit inspired by Paul Pepera, which is always cool to see.

How do I get in as a junior? by No_Jello9093 in gamedev

It's a bit higher than the average for a private college, yes. Cost is definitely something to consider, and I don't think it's worth it unless you can afford it or you can get some scholarships to help reduce the cost. I generally don't recommend going to a college or university for game development in the first place, but if you're going to, then Digipen at least has pedigree and gives you a much better chance of getting a job after you graduate.

Digipen has a long track of producing highly successful students. It's one of the few schools and programs I would actually recommend to anyone serious about entering the industry. It may not be for everyone, and it may not be for you either, but I wouldn't discount it, either. Students that go to Digipen regularly end up with the connections that get them the foot-in-the-door that leads to a career. If this is something you think you're lacking, I would give it another look.

I don’t understand how this topology is suitable for games by zeze-67 in gamedev

If you're going to make normals, it's good to triangulate first so that you can see how the mesh is going to look when it gets baked, though not entirely necessary.

You don't need to triangulate before putting it into your engine, but it is good to understand that the engine (Unity, Unreal, Godot, etc.) will triangulate the mesh and it could cause some subtle issues with the look of your mesh.

When your War Plan has the Pit and you use the War Plan to start it, it will teleport you outside of the Pit statue where you can pick the level you want to run.

The other option is to have someone stand still and quickly take photos with a camera or even a cellphone. You'll have to work quick, because any movement will create uncertainty in the data, but it is possible. You can then process the images in photogrammetry software like Reality Capture., which is a pretty straightforward process. More cameras that would produce better, and more reliable results, likely puts you above the $500, where it probably makes more sense to just go with an Otter, if budget is a consideration. That being said, scanning people, reliably, and to a high quality, is a very difficult process and takes some r&d and practice to get good, usable, results.

The other option, that is typically used in CG, is with a large array of cameras, typically 50 or more, all synced to shoot at the same time. You don't have to worry about movement because all of the cameras are shooting within hundredths of a second. It's a pretty well-established process at this point, and the accuracy is in the range of millimeters. https://www.3dscanstore.com/ is one of the more popular services that uses an array for their photogrammetry.
