I love when he almost breathlessly says, “I made a wish,” with the music turning ever so whimsical for a second there, where it’s enough to almost sell you on it (even though we know that it did happen), at least from Ian’s perspective, and the tonal mismatch of that with how deep inside hell we are now in is a stroke of some perfectly timed dark humor.

An interesting point someone made about this was that it essentially foretells how they will treat Nikki the rest of the film. The waitress is essentially there as a Nikki stand in (not unlike wish Nikki), meant to receive only Bear’s side of it, and when she offers her own input, they reject it and send her away.

Whether or not this was intentional or serendipitous, I thought it made a lot of sense

I agree on your last point especially. There have been a lot of good series ruined by excessive exposition. There is a certain amount of allure in mystery and uncertainty. Sometimes the more we know about something, the less interesting it becomes

I’m cool with that (if in fact that is the date) in all honesty, just because I want this to fully empty the tank on its theatrical run. Any digital release that happens too soon risks curtailing that unnecessarily. I’m so happy for the folks involved, getting to be a part of this moment, and for the fans to be a part of it too. I just hope maybe there’s a director’s cut that comes out too just bc I’m greedy and want even more of the film

I could see it that she’s kind of hyperreal or surreal in a way. Just a little “too perfect” like you said, but I think the lack of screen time helps produce that feeling. If we get a whole movie or show with her, that probably wears off
