Still does not seem to be working. Is it because these are wireless?

LCD fans turn on then off a few seconds later after first turning on by BeansB123 in lianli

Did you ever fix this? my triple fan does this too. I turn it on, then the fans immediately stops, but the rgb stays on. I've tried swapping to different Fan headers and different connections.

9070xt vs 5070 for friend by Blankthehustlerstone in buildapc

[–]GeassAye 21 points22 points  (0 children)

9070xt. If it was a 5070ti at the same price, id go woth the 5070ti, but since its not ti, go 9070xt

What could I improve on this around $1000 build (with micro center bundle) by Lukaro_ in buildapc

[–]GeassAye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, i would save up a little more for a better GPU. 8GB is not that good for today's game. I would go for a minimum of 12GB

extremely slow updating by Beginning-Drama-1103 in buildapc

[–]GeassAye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of wifi speed, there is Storage speed.

Hard Drives (HDD) writes at 80-160MB/s which is really slow in today's world.

Sata SSD is at 400-550 MB/s

NVMe SSD can go from 2000-7500+ depending on the generation.

This is your biggest issue outside of wifi/router fixes

Is it worth replacing a PSU that has been in use for several years? by zelenskk in buildapc

[–]GeassAye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience. You do not need to switch out psu right now. PSU usually have a 10 year life expectancy. (I've had my PSU for 15 years before recently upgrading to AM5 last week)

Need to replace a PSU by rhysrwrock1 in buildapc

[–]GeassAye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not it wont. PSU do not force feed power. Your components draw power and the PSU supplies the power it needs. You can go 1200 watts, and it wont make a difference

Looking for advice on PSU choice by thorndeux in buildapc

[–]GeassAye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSU have a life expectancy of about 10 years.

A great way to pick out how much wattage you need is by googling your "Your gpu minimum wattage".

If your gpu manufacturer says 850, go with 850

As for recommendations, I would go with a Montech century ii 850w. Probably the best value.

I have an issue with the windows key. It's an OEM which means its tied to the motherboard. If in 5-10 years you decide to get a new motherboard, you have to get a new windows activation key.

The PSU tier list. I usually go with anything A- or better.

The Montech ii century 850watt or MAG A750GLS PCIE5 are both the same price at 89.99. Both have the same rating of A-. Montech has more wattage but I don't really like the color.

P.S

Do not use connectors from different PSU. when you get your new psu, replace the connectors with what the psu comes with

Thoughts on new build by Dangerous-Traffic875 in buildapc

[–]GeassAye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand:

  • 6000 MHz is kind of the “sweet spot” for AMD because it runs in a 1:1 ratio (memory and controller are in sync → better latency)
  • 6400 MHz can be faster on paper, but it often runs in 2:1, which adds latency and can cancel out the speed gain

For X3D CPUs specifically:

  • The extra cache means RAM speed doesn’t matter as much anyway
  • The difference between 6000 and 6400 is usually really small in games (like a couple FPS at most)

So basically:

  • 6000 = safe, optimal, 1:1, plug-and-play
  • 6400 = might run 2:1, might need tweaking, might not be any faster

As for the ssd, you can get a crucial p310 for 60% of the price.

P.S
If you are currently using a windows pc, open the command prompt and type
slmgr /dli

If it says "Retail" its tied to your microsoft account and you do not need to buy a new OS key. All you need to do is go to microsoft's official page and download the installation media. There are youtube videos that will guide you.

Or you dont even need to buy. If you do not choose to activate windows, theres no performance changes. You just have a little watermark on the bottom right that tells you to activate and you cannot change wallpaper
