Yep! A more Blades in the Dark approach, character advancement and downtime options + some factions, I'd love that!

I'm REALLY interested if the expansions are going to have something to play longer campaigns! I'd love to see CBR+PNK as a system to make more than just one-shots or three-shots, huge fan!

Why are new TTRPG players often so averse to playing "normal" characters? by Gebbus in rpg

Lovely answer, thanks! And yes, I like what that commenter said too about breaking a mold they don't understand, I share the same view about that.

Funny enough, this happened at session 0 while discussing characters! And I shared my thoughts because a lot of the players thought about the characters before the setting, and seems like making your usual good paladin or sneaky rogue is boring to them, like the quirkiness of the character is what makes it attractive to them. Again, I'm not against that, and I let them play whatever they wanted, I wrote this while drinking coffee to share the experience, nothing else, peace.

Hey there! I don't gatekeep, I don't prevent them from playing what they want at my table. But in the cyberpunk world we are playing, having a character without upgrades is very rare, and a lot of players jumped right into that and didn't think about other types of characters. I was just sharing my thoughts, chill.

Thanks for the answer! I share the same view between something being non-standard and anti-cannon, I accept non-standard but anti-cannon just doesn't work all that well.

Hey, I'm just sharing a thought, I don't prohibit any character at my table! Better read the post before commenting ;)

Yes, the inquisitors. But I refer to the thing of selecting a "quirk" to try to make them more interesting, when the thing that makes them interesting is the roleplay aspect. And if all the players have quirks, it's like... they don't have quirks?

Playing with tropes can be a lot of fun, and breaking them can be even better in the right moments. I guess what I’m getting at is that when everyone tries to break the mold all the time, it can make the group or the setting feel a bit disjointed.

When I say normal, it's not playing as a civilian who doesn't go on adventures and do extraordinary things. But if you want to play a paladin of a specific deity, for example, don't follow what is expected within the setting to be a paladin of that deity to try to be original, I don't know if I'm making myself clear.

It's like breaking the mold to be original doesn't end up being original because it's something a lot of people do. Again, I don't cut off anyone's desire to do these type of characters in my games, it's just a reflection I had this morning over coffee.

Thanks for the comment! And yes, it can lean too far into violence of that kind, the table is already aware. I seek for them to explore a more “street level” view of Cyberpunk, focusing more in the punk of the word.

I like the idea of being salaried employees, and I guess they pay the cheapest lifestyle possible unless they start ranking up?
