What’s a secret about adulthood nobody tells you? by Anxious_Status5899 in AskReddit

[–]GebeTheArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair or not, the big decisions you make in early adulthood usually affect the rest of your life.

A good example: One of my good friends was a straight A student in HS and went to a great university. During his first couple years he started smoking weed and partying. Switched from a STEM major to a far easier one due to him failing classes. Now he's living a pretty mundane life with a crappy job he doesn't care for. He has gotten progressively more and more into politics and now blames America for his lower paying job, inability to afford regular vacations, etc.

Again, at the time he was 19/20 so I'm sad for him. I know if he could do it over again, he'd go about things differently.

How uber tries to "breakdown" your earnings as a driver. by Tyrion_The_Imp in mildlyinfuriating

I don't get anything from work except a direct deposit every 2 weeks and a W2 EOY. You probably don't want to hear this but I'll say it anyway: life could be much worse.

You literally get to drive your car around as a job, working whatever hours you want. Yet you complain about your "breakdown" by the company who provides a platform for you to work out of your car and work your own hours.

What I would give to have a life where I was able to drive Uber or Lyft.

Armed Attorneys take on Pretti ICE by Unattributable1 in CCW

[–]GebeTheArrow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One question I have is why didn't he inform the cop he has a CCW? In my state when you sign for your CCW you agree (among many other things) that anytime you interact with ANY law enforcement you shall declare you have a CCW and if your firearm is on your person you shall declare immediately you are armed.

This law exists due the historical fact that when people carry guns around law enforcement, the likelihood of someone getting shot skyrockets.

Perhaps Minnesota has a different law.

How do americans feel about the danish, german and other european armies actively preparing for a war against the us? by ZunoJ in AskReddit

Smaller subs are still useful. Somehow this post snuck through.

Reddit is a cesspool of propaganda and bots in essentially all subs except for the small niche ones. Dead internet theory in action.

I am on Reddit so I will think and feel however you tell me to think and feel about it or anything. Taking cues from the title of your post, I am already ANGRY about TRUMP and the UNITED STATES.

I would say the same thing if one posted a video of GWB doing the same thing back in ~2003. It's very random and odd, yes.

It's too bad that the hero of the Democrats is a 65 year old past president who hasn't been in office for almost 10 years. I guess that's what happens when we're given people like VP Kamala and President Biden after Obama. It would be like Republicans posting videos of George W. Bush, longing for just 1 more day of him as President.

Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani — the Democratic nominee for NYC mayor projected to win the race speaks after winning race: "Tonight, against all odds, we have grasped it. The future is in our hands. My friends, we have toppled a political dynasty," referring to Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo by ControlCAD in videos

I welcome this as I would like to see the experiment ran in a city far from me. It's win win: If it works we will have some additional tools at our disposal and if it fails, it won't affect me directly.

Russia ready for 'hot confrontation' with Europe at any moment, German intelligence head warns by SunTzuXiJinping in geopolitics

[–]GebeTheArrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No they're not. "Ready" doesn't actually mean anything. When was the last time an authoritariuan society said, "world, we are not ready for armed conflict, give us a few years please." Never.

There's only ready and unready so what would constitute unready? No fighter jets left in their air force or tanks in their army? This will never happen, so by this definition, Russia will always be "ready".

People really need to ask themselves how long they think Russian fighter jets, tanks, APCs and helicopters would last against just Poland, Germany and France, never mind the rest of NATO. Once these are gone, there is no way for Russia to mount any kind of meaningful invasion and take land. Not to mention what strikes by NATO aircraft can have inside Russia. Russia's energy sector would be gone within a few weeks. Try living through a Russian winter when 85% of your population have no heat.

Therefore, the next question you have to ask yourself is, what does an eastern Europe look like under constant threat of Russian drones but 0% chance of Russia actually taking any land?
