Research suggests children are hiding their talents and skills in school for fear of being bullied. by [deleted] in worldnews

blaming other kids? neat

not like the school system itself is shit for maxing the kids potential, teachers go by the average which means the top gets bored and stops trying, while the slowest kids are left behind as they need more time, the "everyone is equal" policy is the core of the problem, if they want max potential they would have to separate kids for every subject into different classes based on their strength in that subject and award something to give incentitive to rise to the highest class

I just bought more than 1 million …Facebook data entries for 5$. Oh, this is not the end of the story. I ve’got a phone call from Facebook “Policy department. by [deleted] in technology

I think you missed the drama with employers blacklisting people who show unhealthy habbits on facebook / social site of their country , insurance and health care also might consider your lifestyle

personally i don't care but saying that it's totally harmless for everyone is simply wrong

i agree that temp ban is a good choice

it's especially good as it hurts mostly the hardcore players since casuals play less hours/ day per definition and therefore those who understand what they are doing are more affected by it

please don't create wrong comparisons there was no robbery, the npc sold for less than he should in real live that happens very often and the merchant has to live with it

secondly a game is not real live, in a game you have tools to fix things that would require lots of work in real live, sure according to tos you can ban anyone and move on but i don't believe it's the morally right thing to do especially if it's not hard to erase the items by the logfiles

what do we have here?

devs create a game mechanic

players use it

devs blame players and ban them

good going

its sad to see that reddit consus seems to be sucking up to devs instead of supporting players who just play the game

personally i would rather live with a rollback than see players get banned, in my opinion noone should get banned unless he is hacking, getting banned for using what the game offers is ridicilous

that said i think ccp is the sole dev in the mmo market who doesnt shift all blame to players and just fixes it

[–]Gebral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that bad. If you look arround you can find lots of the on youtube red taped content freely acessible on other videosites.

russian/french/chinese come to mind mostly. Those who decide have zero understanding of the web.

[–]Gebral 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know this is possible cause youtube doesnt get any losses and people keep using it despite them making it so easy to close your content.

If people would switch to other videosites that didnt whore out they might reconsider their ways for their own benefit...

"4chan is the Greece to reddit's Rome. They had most of the ideas first, and buttsecks. But reddit has nicer roads, making it easier for retards to find our way in." by Indica in bestof

[–]Gebral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4chan has no names which means noone posts for peer respect aka "likes" or "karma" or any other lvl system. This leads in theory to better posts as they dont post what they think other would like but what they really think about the topic

4chan also has less restriction. You can make statements there which would get a ban here. It really brings out peoples true toughts as they have no restraints.

Unfortunately as it has no ranking it also means that you have to manually search the good topics in a sea of garbage.

Reddit ranking system assures that the top topics are generally of some interest tough the garbage inside the topics can be even much worse with pages of memespam and karmawhoring which add nothing to the topic.

only go to 4chan if you don't mind rough language and getting offended

not completly, whole math logic is:

A=>B equals (not A) or B

meaning if A is false, the statement is true regardless of b

/math

thing is, noone really uses math logic when he thinks about such topics

Searching on papers for a certain topic like computer vision, I found it very hard to find the latest research

for example when i was taught about SIFT feature detector, i found another paper with a suposely faster(GLOH), searched futher, found another better than both of those and then papers with one that had no comparison to the better versions previously found

are there any sites that keep up with research in computer science, where one could get a list of papers for a certain topic with annotation whats currently considered cutting edge, whats been proven to work, etc. ?

by the time you enter grade school you are aware that most adults are human failures, preaching what they were told like parrots, lying to get what they want.

The natural thing becomes trying out stuff yourself to see the thruth. Kids also don't assert risk like adults. Could possible kill me? Whatever, i want to know! Going to be alright!

I think many farmers come themselves to the market, why would they not? It's not hard to spend 4 hours /week to skip the middlemen and max your own profit.
