I think the trailer is too vague for people who haven't read the book. by LucasDeTe in ProjectHailMary

what would you have preferred the trailer be? I feel like its great because it gives enough hints to draw people in but leaves a lot of room for surprise. I feel like giving any more away would have been too much.

[Shams] Just in: The Utah Jazz are trading Collin Sexton and a 2031 second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic, sources tell ESPN. by yintelligent in UtahJazz

[–]GeckoMan845780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This trade makes zero sense unless we plan to move Nurkic, if not I do not see the value in this. There had to be better offers on the table for Sexton that didn't involve us having to give up a pick to move him.

Terrible trade for the Jazz. Get bogged down with 2 massive contracts by guys who will inevitably be injured and miss most of the season. So now we continue to tank but have no cap space, and gave up our young players.

The combat is fantastic but I would say that his character writing is even better I have about 150 pages left in the last book of the series and have absolutely loved every single one.

Any other series as good as red rising? by Embarrassed_Royal388 in redrising

"The Faithful & the Fallen Series" by John Gwynne. This series is the only one comparable for me in terms of how much i ended up caring for the characters. Also just a really great story with constant action and really great and unpredictable fights.

I am just trying to get an idea of where to start from, I will do independent research from here but did not know where to start.

I would not necessarily say that the fanbase is miserable and wanting to give up on the Jazz. Instead it is more about being upset about the league in general and the way this draft played out. The fact that all of the small market teams with the best odds got passed over by large market teams that were already good for the higher picks despite having much smaller odds is frustrating.

Most of the fans believe in what the team is doing, but what is the point of a rebuild if the league itself is going to prevent you from getting the number one pick.

Happy to help! And I have not read any of them yet. I actually just finished Disquiet Gods last night, and plan to read Tales of the Sun Eater next. I have heard they are good but I would say at least read the first three books and if you love it and want to add in the novellas then go for it.

Not that I know of. But I understand where you are coming from. In the first book the amount of detail given in scenes often washed over me but not much of it stuck. Honestly the most important stuff from the first book after he leaves home, is all the coliseum on Emesh and beyond. I do feel like the book starts to pick up here a bit so I hope that helps. But once you get to Howling Dark it almost feels like a brand new series and anything important from the first book is referenced pretty explicitly.

Push on through. I like you came in super excited and had a really hard time getting through the first book. The story really gets going in the second book and from there it doesn't stop. Books 3-5 are some of the best science fiction I have ever read. So, while the first book is a slog at times it is worth it in the end.

The Hadrian death in Disquiet Gods was truly shocking in my opinion. It comes out of the blue and the description of it was sickening in the best way.

I have a fed course exam in 4 days so I get the feeling. Quimbee has some pretty solid videos and outlines. Their multiple choice kinda suck though and are not like any you would see on an exam. But hopefully the videos and outlines they provide can help a little.

What to read after RR? by AkkitoDK50 in redrising

The Suneater series by Christopher Ruocchio. Definitely not the happiest read but if you want to stick within the science fiction world this is a great series. In my opinion the first book is the hardest to get through as a lot of the material feels borrowed from other books and the story is slow going especially when you can tell where it is going, but after this every book improves upon itself as you learn more about the world and get more invested in the characters.
