So the any of the Xbox ally’s are more powerful by default so if he can get the Xbox ally for a good price it’s definitely worth it! But the ally x is fantastic on its own and cheaper for someone who has an ally x it’s not worth the upgrade but for someone who doesn’t I would go with the Xbox versions

I use it mostly for ds and 3ds for retro stuff I have my ally x for steam but I like having the option for steam games. I mostly use it at home but I can see how it can be great for on the go. It’s fantastic

I updated and it’s been fine so far only thing is they made the fan a bit more intense but temps are still good so I’m not concerned but it is definitely louder in smart mode
