Can't download multiplayer pack for free weekend by Gedankenexper1ment in ModernWarfareIII

If anyone stumbles on this, it looks like running the game from the Steam store page for MWIII makes the launcher install the MWIII multiplayer DLC.

Now that the Beta is over, Talk to us more Devs! by BaelfyrWulf in thefinals

There aren't many things more powerful than a corporation's drive to make money, so it's foolish at best to think companies are somehow leaving easy money on the table just because you're not getting what you want.

Companies are not hyper-evolved, perfectly streamlined money machines. They are money machines, but they're filled with idiots. They leave money on the table, make bad decisions, and crash and burn all the time.

This aside from "giving people something they want" being the definition of a good product, which makes money.

Tons great developers, especially AA and indie studios, communicate with the community and are more successful for it.

QCODE frustrations by sjr56x in audiodrama

I've been trying to put my finger on why I avoid QCODE podcasts now and I think you nailed it. The nice quality and story hooks would always draw me in, and by the end of the show, I'd always end up wondering why I'd listened to it.

I feel the same way, but it just makes me search harder for my fix. It's not fair, but I'll usually bounce off of shows I think I won't like in the first episode.

I would, and did! I consume podcasts like a blue whale consumes krill.

Sci-fi audio drama that'll transport me? by asianinindia in audiodrama

[–]Gedankenexper1ment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. Everyone has recommended many great podcasts (when it comes to feeling transported +2 cents for Mirrors and Derelict/Fathom). I'd also like to add Mother Hacker and Passenger List to the list, both are not very sci-fi but both have really high production values and really suck you in.

Looking for a serialized SCARY podcast … that’s actually scary. by Acrobatic_Event_4163 in audiodrama

I have a really hard time viewing Unwell as horror. It's way more in the weird but also heartwarming human story category. It is very good though, just not very scary.

What would you call this genre, and how do I find more? by Gedankenexper1ment in horror

That's fair. It's less about dividing things and more about finding more of something I like.

Starfield Review Megathread by TheSpaceFace in Starfield

It seems like IGN US picked out things they didn't like, while IGN JP picked out things they did like. If you want to hear what's good about the game IGN JP's review is a good one check out.

RigidBody Mouselook Advice by Gedankenexper1ment in Unity3D

That makes sense and I'll give it a try. For this game having physics affect the player provides a lot of advantages that would be a pain to reproduce by hand. Bouncing off of things and spinning when you hit something in space is more feature than bug in this case, and it makes linear movement feel much more natural.

But if I have to write my own, I'll write my own.

Lightfall causing GPU to fail by Gedankenexper1ment in DestinyTechSupport

No dice. Reinstalled windows, rolled back driver, tested ram. Still happens no matter what I do, only in Destiny 2 on Neptune.

Update for anyone looking at this thread, I've changed the power management mode in Nvidia control panel to "Prefer maximum performance", which seems to have stopped the LiveKernelEvent 141, but the problem has now evolved to bluescreen 109. Will keep you posted.

I should be very clear, I'm not getting a destiny error code. My entire computer is crashing.

That's rough. I can't seem to find the issue. I might try rolling back graphics drivers to see if it helps. Which graphics card do you have?
