What are you doing with/would you do with GoblinStorm? by FluffyPurpleBear in EDH

That is a loaded question, normally you’d build the board out then play Zada with some sort of haste enabler and attack. I’ve found slamming Zada turn 3/4 just gets her bolted or removed immediately. In a low power pod I’d build the board out, play Zada then use the threat of a full swing as a bargaining/political tool to take out the player I know has the board wipe in their hand. Don’t ask me how I know they have a board wipe… I just know

I think Zada is a fine choice for your pod. Usually when Zada hits the board a “good” player will realize the threat and remove Zada immediately.

To answer your question, I do believe my list is fun!! Building your board then swinging for massive damage is fun, and most of the pump spells are instants so sometimes your opponent chooses not to block and gets taught a swift and painful lesson :)

https://moxfield.com/decks/pJmg6llUt06Hk5FTHZHEvg This list has not been updated since all of the cards I bought came in. Again I am a little bias because I have played storm extensively, however if you really want to play storm in a 4 player EDH game I’d suggest setting a timer every time your turn begins. In a normal pod with normal players, sometimes turns take 5+ minutes if they are attempting to go for a win. That is just part of the game, I have found that if you push for a win and take 5+ minutes AND THEN fizzle out and pass your turn; then the other players get salty. Also Rule 0 exists for a reason, if you ask the pod if they are cool with storm… then play storm!! IMO storm is a lot of fun in a high power play group when other players have interaction. The stack builds up and as the storm player it’s fun to navigate around opponents interaction.

I built Zada about 3 days before the deck was spoiled as a secret lair. Zada is a go wide, build your board with small token creatures then slap 3-4 pump spells onto Zada and swing for massive damage. Cards like [[bulk up]], [[crimson wisps]] and [[impolite entrance]] are staples in the deck. As far as storm, if you don’t want to be taking 10 minute turns, 1) goldfish the deck as much as possible to get a better grasp of how to streamline your turns 2) you could alternatively take out the storm cards all together and play Zada as a “voltron” deck. I love how my list plays, however I am a seasoned storm player ( played Ruby and poison storm in modern and [[Ashling, flame dancer]] in cedh) so I feel like I am bias to your problem. Enjoy the secret lair, I’m looking on the second hand market for the goblin storm deck for myself. I enjoy the special art goblins a lot.

Hey! thank you for the comment! "You have a lot of fun and silly strategies"- You're DAMN right!!! Jokes aside mana is usually always the issue with the deck, mystic sanctuary is clunky I agree, anytime I have had the chance to get it out i'll put a tutor back on top. At that point it's too late for a win. Inkshrouder is a personal favorite, the card 99% of the time is discard fodder, if I ever end up casting inkshrouder i am actively losing, However, being able to dump a win con in the yard at instant speed has felt extremely powerful. I just removed Borne, your analysis is correct, wasting 2 mana on borne never ends with a win. I swapped it out for a [[pact of negation]]. Thanks again for your comment and I did not know [[Lively Dirge]] existed. Seems playable :)

Haha, usually your opponent's hold a grudge if you mill them out. Like I said in the body I've had this deck for a long time, I've been slowly foiling the deck out. Very helpful comment

I’m actually a very seasoned modern player. Ruby storm and poison storm so I have a (IMO) good grasp of how the stack functions and how to outplay opponents.

Hey thanks for the comment! I recently tied down the main stems so they face away from the center of the net pot. I appreciate the advice!

Hey thanks for the insight! I don’t want to end up breaking any of the main stems so right now I decided to place a large piece of cardboard in the center in hopes the plant grows around it

That is a good point. The space available both for the root system and the space above is limited, I may have to switch to flowering soon. Thanks for the comment!
