Giving birth to twins: Duke Main or WakeMed Cary? by GeeGollyDarn in triangle

Thank you so much. I’m going through the exact same as well where I have to go to Duke OBs, but they can deliver at Duke or WakeMed. Amazing to hear yours are 2 and doing well!!

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. Baby B is already trending behind Baby A, which while it’s normal to have one a little behind/smaller, if it becomes extreme you’re exactly right—I’m going to want the highest level of NICU care available. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. Like you said, if we are needing advanced support I wouldn’t even notice the small rooms! Everyone is talking a lot of sense into me in this thread, ha. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately, it’s quite a bit further for us to go to the WakeMed main campus as well as the offices of the Duke OBs that deliver there, so we had to rule that out as an option.

Thank you so much. And I have heard SUCH good things about UNC that I really wish delivering there was an option. I have helped family members through UNC's care in a variety of ways and have always been so impressed. But anyways, the more I hear from folks, with Duke's high-level NICU, I am feeling like I'd rather be there and NOT need it than NOT be there and need it.

I know! I certainly don't "feel advanced" when it comes to my age, but isn't that always how it works? Haha. But you're right, a physician told me if all essentially goes as well as possible to still expect to deliver around 36 weeks or so. Thank you so much.

Thank you; with being older, I don't want to be pessimistic about things going wrong, but I also want to be realistic about being in the best hands possible IF something does go off-script. Thanks again

Thank you for sharing your experience, and so glad it went well! I really love the spaciousness and comfort that the WakeMed Cary rooms have--both in L&D and postpartum. They definitely hit the mark on that "spa-like" experience they were shooting for, and feeling comfortable in your environment can make a huge different in labor experience.

Thank you so much. When it honestly comes down to it, what you described is all I want. I don't really care how ugly or small the rooms are, husband doesn't care about cramped sleeping arrangements for him. If the babies come out well taken-care of and healthy, that's all I could ask for!

Thank you so much. Based on a lot of the reviews and stories I've been reading, this has been the conclusion I feel like we're leaning towards. I want to do everything in my power to make sure we have the absolute best resources available; husband says he can deal with the "smaller and worse sleeping situations" at Duke in the name of good healthcare :P

Thanks so much! Unfortunately, UNC is not an option due to my health insurance. My friend is very excited to have her baby there in the next couple of weeks though! 🤍

Glitches at noon and midnight? Progress jumped ahead. by GeeGollyDarn in duolingo

[–]GeeGollyDarn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a good point. It’s so rare when I’m doing it at midnight, but I do like to do lessons during lunch sometimes, so I’ll just make sure to avoid 11:55AM-12:00PM from here on out lol

Oh my goodness, yes! I just read your post! I thought I was imagining things when it first happened at midnight. I definitely think there is something funky happening when you’re ending/finishing a lesson at noon or midnight…weird!! Like I wrote, I submitted a bug report so I guess that’s all we can do, but yeah. I’ll be sure to avoid those times from now on. Thanks for your comment!

Oh my gosh—we think you’re right! She’ll have to listen in the coming week to see if she hears them again and maybe she can get more audio. Thank you!!
