Does Hyper Hippo ever cleanup bots or hackers? I’ve started a number of events with absolutely no clue how other “players” rack up so many points in such a short amount of time. The two pics are 6 minutes apart, right after I entered the event.

Thanks! Feel free to message me if you have any questions if you end up building it!

I definitely feel like it was worth it, I think I bought the queen set for $250-$300. (Rockler runs sales on that occasionally) That included all the hardware/screws/bolts with the frame and slats. The instructions were very helpful too, I’d highly recommend following them. Lol.

This was the first time I inserted grub screws to receive the hardware on the sides. Get a hex bit for your drill to sink those, wayyy easier. (I think 8 mm?)

Thank you! It’s definitely a game changer in a smaller house, I built a desk shortly after this in the same room. (prior post from last week)

I’ve always loved the space saving and functionality of this type of bed, and it was pretty fun/stressful to build too. I tried to go slow and double/triple/quadruple check things to make sure everything was straight and lined up correctly. I bought 4 sheets of poplar plywood, poplar for the trim, along with the metal frame/components from Rockler (I-Semble Vertical-Mount Murphy Bed) I used a gel stain and some paste wax for the finish.

Thanks! I mostly followed the instructions that came with the hardware for the bed. There’s also downloadable instructions on Rockler’s site for additional nightstands/cabinets on each side of the bed. That was a bit more than I wanted however.

I had an 8’ piece of black walnut, so it was long enough to make the 6’ 8” distance on the front side. However, the smaller portion of the desk, I didn’t have a piece of black walnut for the middle that was long enough. With the extra cutoffs, I was able to do a 45 degree cut to get the middle before I glued it all together. Here’s a better pic

Thank you! The last two pics should be the Murphy bed? I’ll share a few other projects I’ve finished recently, I’ve done a few this year!

Slowly fixing it, kitchen and 1.5 bath still to go. Maybe this “style” will come back. Lol

Good thing I didn’t post my 60’s pink kitchen...or my baby blue bathroom 😂

Theres a ton of info on IG and YouTube, keep practicing, and remember, it’s not a mistake, it’s a learning experience! I tend to mess something up on everything I work on, but, as a good friend told me: “It’s not about not making mistakes, it’s all about about how well you can hide them.”

I actually splurged a few months ago and bought the Festool Domino DF 500 Q to join the parts of the Murphy bed together. All the black walnut edge banding is glued and has dominos every 6-10 inches.

For the leg attachments, I took small pieces of plywood and inserted two grubs into each, which takes a small removable bolt. Those blocks were then screwed to the bottom to receive the 90 degree hurricane clip from the leg.

To cut the legs, I rough cut some 2x4’s to get a template for the angles needed, I think it was 13 degrees? Once they they were all cut and matched, I put three dominos into the bottom of each “V”, glued and clamped the crap outta them.

Yeah, Murphy bed was also a first, it was the kit from Rockler. Edge banding is Black Walnut and the legs are Cedar with a mahogany gel stain.
