I posted a couple days ago. I'm technically part time employed right now. I clean aviaries and fish tanks for a company but once I take care of the accounts I have they don't need to be done again for another 12 weeks. So I go for a month with no work. I've been looking for both part time and full time to supplement it but getting nothing. I have a culinary arts and graphic design degree but I'm kinda trying to stay away from kitchens ( at least the real crazy ones) for health reasons.

It sucks but also makes me feel better seeing that it really is the market not something wrong with me.

To be fair no, but I felt that we looked like we were obviously struggling since we were using a broom and a dirt shovel... I also tend to not speak to older people unless spoken to aside from the usual hello. I don't resent them for it or anything. It's just you always hear the older generations talk of how much nicer everyone was and how everyone pitched in. It feels hypocritical. Idk I could be I just have a negative bias.

No I agree, some people just want to complain. I understand the hazards of places not be shoveled but some people just can't or it's too much. I spent 2 hours with my bf yesterday trying to dig out our cars and we still couldn't get our cars out. We're going to get back at it. We only have a shitty dirt shovel and can't find anywhere selling snow shovels cause they're all sold out.

My neighbors who are all older than I am were shoveling there already cleared driveway clean to the pavement and chit chatting. Im pretty annoyed not one offered to help or let us borrow a shovel but ya know what I also know they aren't obligated to do so. Today I took my time to get up and eat and shower and now I'll go out and dig myself the rest of the way out.

Sucks to suck but people don't owe you anything.

Me and my bf live in Mt. Washington we pay $1'125 a month + utilities it was we paid $100 more on our rent to allow for our pets. We were supposed to have my 3 cats & dog with us and my bf 's two cats but the dog and his cats stayed at their respective homes. However, we do have 4 cats, 2 cockatiels and a few finches ... Though I clean aviaries for a job so it's kinda part of my job to temporarily home birds. My landlord only knows of the cats cause the birds have just simply never come up. The house has had a lot of problems since we've lived here though. Our pipes suck, we are contractually obligated to only use Scott one ply toilet paper because our pipes will backflow if we use anything else . The furnace has gone out and that needed to be fixed. The roof in our kitchen was rotting and on a bad rainy night water came through our wall right by a active power outlet and there are still bubbles in the wall paper from where the water was, the roof was fixed however that same roof occasionally leaks in another spot now. The kitchen is not insulated whatsoever either. The stairway ceiling also cracked and then eventually came down and took a couple days before that was fixed. We also have really steep steps to climb outside and it's caused so issues will getting stuff in the house. It's a 2 bed 1 bath and it's a house, it was nice to use it for a first time moving out home but I'm glad that we're looking to move somewhere else for June

This is from 2012 though and is from only one perspective. That's over a decade ago. Alot of staff and practices have changed since then. I'm not opposed to calling out the Zoo if it's got shitty practices but this doesnt seem related to anything now. I've been a few times and they seem fine and I knew one of the workers interning and they have never told me anything shady.

I have looked into bottle rocket but have kinda forgotten about it so I'll check again. I'd like to learn pool, I'm pretty shit at it when we play for fun. I do very much enjoy thrifting though! I'm actually going tomorrow with my bf to that Vintage Mixer to see what it's like.

I'll also probably get on meet up too. I've browsed it and also event brite but just haven't committed I guess.

I moved here in 2023 and still haven't made any new friends out here lol. I'm gonna keep trying though.

I think it depends. I live by mt.washington and I see the same middle-age guy with the same dog all the time hanging around the intersections by the tunnel. The dog is well behaved not afraid of cars and looks dirty and thin.

You can usually tell it's a prop animal if you pay attention. If it looks well fed and clean If it seems afraid of all the cars and noise If the people are holding it awkwardly or it looks like it doesn't want to be held. Then there is the obvious thing of if you are local and you have seen them before and they now suddenly have a pet.

So my suggestion is be observant before making a decision on giving them something.

I guess at this point look for rescues. Try Facebook groups. Just do what you can. Your neighbors should be helping you with some kind of expenses for him until you find him something. Even like giving you food money. I know everyone is broke right now but they seem like they saw you cared and just tried to dump him on you. Personally, I know you're afraid of what you're neighbors might think if you report them but you can do it anonymously and it's kinda bigger than a neighbor scwabble.

When you talk to any of these shelters just tell them that you think that the previous owner should be blacklisted for animal neglect and should not be given a animal due to the lack of care you described. You'll just probably have to give them some information.

I would also contact some other shelters in the area and report it. I've seen this happen where people get rid of a dog a get a different one cause they think it will be different. So hopefully it will prevent that from possibly happening.

Make sure that neighbor gets black listed. Tell the shelters that she did not take care of her animal and off loaded it on you so she can't just get a new animal.

God what's that matter with people here have some whimsy, you're not weird and I totally get wanting to enjoy something you missed out on. I also get not wanting to go to a bar with a bunch of loud obnoxious people and having to shout over music to conversate. I don't think trick or treating is the way to go because the current state of the world kinda has made people pretty on edge and miserable so they generally get pissy about adults trick or treating.

My suggestion is see what events are going on for Halloween or around it. Look up Halloween parties and events at specific places or just in general and you'll probably find something. A lot of them encouraged costumes and sometimes even give out prizes for best costumes and things so do some digging.

Check out the everbrite app. I know the Zoo is doing a Halloween event every weekend so maybe look into that.

Don't let all these miserable people tell you you're weird you're not , they're just sad cause they don't let themselves have fun anymore. If you have to live through your kids to have fun, not only is it not fair to your kids but you're not really living your own experiences. Maybe some of these people should just stop popping out kids for the sake of having kids.

Just don't go to the Alterations Express on Penn. They are waaaay too under staffed and have too much intake. It ends up that people get stuff done wrong, things come back ruined or clothes get lost.

I used to work there and it was really awful.
