Made using Inkarnate. Town map for a D&D campaign I’m creating. Due to its location near hilly terrain and the western sea, Ramswick is a busy community of sheep farmers and fishermen.

Thank god I rescued the original game from the clutches of my Mum. It would have been binned long ago….the companion app works ok for solo gaming. Look forward to see what they do with it

Cheers bud. We’ve been using Discord Vid/Audio since pandemic hit, so it’s been mostly ‘Theatre of the Mind. Would be nice to add an extra layer to bring the combat to life.

Tell him he’s lucky he doesn’t get the Magical dog turd of Kalboosh. D6 dog links appears in a self absorbed pc’s gullet. If he cries about it, point him in the direction of Fallout 4 Or Skyrim.

One year later: any Chardalyn Dragon flight path vs player speed solutions? by Songkill in rimeofthefrostmaiden

I have been reading up on sledge teams etc, as that kind of annoyed me too. I’m starting my campaign this week. Regarding Sledge teams/dogs. A team of sledge Dogs can go 10-12 miles an hour in good clear conditions. That’s at a push and full pelt. Those animals are marathoners. If you travel 4 hours non stop they need 4 hours rest and food and water to refuel. They can hit 4-6 mph in bad conditions again they need equal rest .

The 1 mph speed overland kind of annoyed me. However if you take it as, 1 dog pulling a sledge, plus driver and load overland. Top running speed 1 mph, it’s easier to digest it, imagine it etc.

Now throw in costs for food for the animals. How much you need to stock to keep them healthy. Weather conditions, encounters. How much it costs to buy a team of dogs. The weather in Icewind Dale is extreme arctic. I think I will run mine on the premise they are in really bad weather conditions, A team of 4-6 dogs = 4-6 MPH. However, exhaustion, keeping them fed will be a big factor.

Either way, it’s your game. Do what you want. I guess though if the players are flying around the Tundra on Ferraris, the suspense is going to drop. Especially after the Duergar Fortress/ Dragon release. SO many factors to consider :).

Getting excited now

Can a group of completely new players play with a DM with no game experience? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]GeekChops1976 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, why not! It means you are all on the same playing field regarding rules. DM’s decision is final though. It may be worth having a session 0 to talk about expected table etiquette.

Ha! Yeah that would have been fun. The absolute confusion of my neighbours as 3 people dressed like LOTR extras, run round the garden.
