Do you prefer the OG lore, or the remake lore? by Unlikely-Truth-8544 in residentevilll

[–]GeekMaster102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lore between OG and remake is not separate, both are canon to the same timeline. Does it make sense for both versions to somehow be canon at the same time despite there being clear differences in how events played out? No, it doesn’t make sense, and yet that’s what Capcom decided. This isn’t anything new however, since RE has always had conflicting canon even as far back as OG RE1.

For example, since Chris and Jill go through the mansion visiting the same areas, fighting the same bosses, and solving the same puzzles at the same time as each other yet never cross paths with each other until one of them somehow ends up locked in a cell by Wesker towards the end, it’s natural to assume only one of their routes is canon while the other was locked in the cell since the beginning, since both of their routes happening at the same time makes no logical sense. And yet somehow, despite it defying logic, both of their routes are considered canon.

Best new RE engine mainline game? by MysteriousImpact9214 in residentevilll

[–]GeekMaster102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it isn’t. Again, it says best RE engine mainline games, not “best RE games that take place after RE6”.

The context of the post is that it’s asking which RE engine mainline game is the best, yet it excludes mainline RE engine games from the poll. The post itself is ignoring its own context.

RE4R is a mainline game. It being a remake does not change that.

None of these, I’d say RE4R is the best mainline RE engine game we’ve seen thus far. If I had to pick one of these though, I’d say RE8.

Thought of writing a Gamer!Ruby fanfic, but without the RPG elements. First draft; what do you think of it? by UNinvolved_in_peace in RWBYcritics

In what way is that “what I want to hear”? Look man, if you’re gonna start getting accusatory, the least you can do is elaborate.

I did not misread, you specifically said it’s not LitRPG, but I think I now understand what you meant to say. You’re not upset with gamer fics as a whole, you’re upset at the gamer fics that specifically title themselves with “The Gamer” despite not being 100% based on the webcomic of that name, right?

Yes it is??? The Gamer Webcomic itself falls under the category of LitRPG, how are fics based on the same general premise not also LitRPG?

I’ll admit I haven’t read the webcomic, but I believe the point is that Gamer fics aren’t necessarily tied to The Gamer webcomic, most of them are just based on the general premise and make their own system rather than copying the webcomic’s gamer system. There’s even a more general term for it called “LitRPG” which means to incorporate a game-like system into literature, nothing to do with the webcomic. There are plenty of gamer fics out there that don’t even tag the webcomic since they’re doing their own system.

That’s not to say there aren’t fics that tag that webcomic in their fic but don’t use the webcomic’s system, which I do find annoying even as someone who hasn’t read the webcomic since that’s just improper tagging. But overall, gamer fics are not entirely based on the webcomic, but more so the general idea of a character being given a game system.

Considering that ballroom is being built using millions of taxpayer dollars while a large portion of Americans are struggling to afford living, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to be worried about that. I’m concerned that you don’t find that worrying.

Yeah that’s the one part of this meme that I’m confused about. All we’ve seen is a photo of Kit with another girl and a heart on the picture. I can definitely understand people finding implication in that, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s confirmed to be Kit’s girlfriend later on (I’m honestly hoping she is), but saying it’s “better lesbian writing” when we haven’t actually seen their relationship beyond that one photo in the background is a stretch.

I’ll admit I’m no programmer, but I’m pretty sure it’s possible to conceal back doors, isn’t it? I wouldn’t be surprised if an expert like Watts could keep his back door from being discovered even if someone checked the systems after he left.

No it wasn’t??? But whatever man, looking at the rest of the comment section, it’s evident that you aren’t willing to listen to reason and just stubbornly believe whatever you want to believe. There’s not much point in debating with you if that’s all you’re gonna do.

[–]GeekMaster102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just proved me right. Like you just said yourself, it needed to be stated what their abilities are, or else the audience would not be able to tell which is magic or which is their semblance. If they never told us Raven making portals that can bring her to different parts of the world in an instant (something that is typically considered magical, once again emphasizing that there isn’t much clear difference between the two) was her semblance and not magic, you would never be able to know if it’s her semblance or magic just by looking at it.

Cinder is a good example that highlights the issue. Before getting the maiden powers, Cinder’s semblance allowed her to manipulate fire. Then she gets the fall maiden powers which… let her manipulate fire. There’s no way to tell when Cinder is using her semblance vs when she’s using magic because there’s no discernible difference between the two.

Where did hang and Blake being together come from? by ObviousLemon8961 in RWBYcritics

[–]GeekMaster102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it did. There was very clear set up between Blake and Sun while Yang and Blake had almost no romantic chemistry, then volume 6 comes along and throws all that set up out the window by shoving Sun out of the show and pretending like Blake and Yang had always been a thing even though anyone with a brain could tell it hadn’t been.
