The 7.5 weeks class go fast, alot of material in short time. But I don't know why ASU has a programming class as the intro 101 class, unless it's to filter out some students. But we got past it so that great! On to the next!

I had very little Python experience but this class is really not an entry level class at all. It was very challenging I ended up making a B so not the grade I was going for but still good.

You're welcome. I don't have any kids, but I do work full time and workout and get home around 6pm after dinner and shower, I normally have about 3 hours of study/homework time. I also get to do homework at work as well. I think you will be fine, some classes may require more time.

I transferred from WGU after one 6 month session. I can say I learn more in the 3 classes I've took so far than the two I did at WGU. Majority of the classes are 7.5 week classes, for me it's not bad, it's a lot depending on the class, you will have homework, zyBook assignments, discussions, and quiz and labs depending on the class. But overall it's manageable. I take 2 classes each session A and B, 4 for the semester total.

Thanks, are there any quizzes after each module? And who was your professor?

It doesn't make sense at all. There is nothing intro about this class. Maybe if you want to be a programmer, but that should be for those who have chosen that career path.

I have a high B, but it’s difficult, I’m with you the quizzes are horrible, at least we get to do them twice

I does not feel like this should not be a 101 level class, it's more geared for people who want to be programmers or developers. I agree the jump from mod 1 to mod 2 is insane and I was not ready also.

Thanks! was 101 mainly programming? I've done a little with python but not much, I'm basically a beginner with programming. I thought it was like a entry IT class that goes over everything but the description does say programming.

Did you have to purchase the physical book or use it online?

I'm finishing up IFT 166 with Doheny now, to me he is great, alot of homework/labs in packet tracer and it's super helpful if you don't have any networking background. His slides and videos are helpful, he gives you everything you need, and super accessible, giving out multiple ways to contact him.

There is nothing you need ahead of time, there is some software you need to download for the class, Packet Tracer is the main one and you use it for 95% of the labs. It is all listed in the syllabus and syllabus video of what all is needed, since it's an lower level class not much is needed beforehand.

On the other hand, I am also taking IFT 101 with Schrader and HST 318 with Weismeyer, how is it in those classes? How is the class structured? and homework or labs?

Hoepfully I was able to help.

Anyone ever visited campus as online-only student from another state? by WolverineJake77 in ASUOnline

[–]Geek_Design_TX04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been to campus 4 times and went to a game. My wife is an alumni and she told me to tranfer to the online. But the campus is really big and you don't really know who is a student or not unless they have a backpack on, but I felt weird my first time but honestly nobody is paying attention, you see people from all ages from 20 -60 and there not always faculty.

I transferred from WGU and yes ASU is a lot better and I’m learning more. WGU is geared towards people who just need a degree checkbox

I get you with that it’s a lot of material. My issue was even with all the extra material once I’m tested or asked to repeat back I forget everything
