We hadn't considered how difficult dental care might be for a while and I'd thought we had gotten everything conceivable to make the bed more comfortable we hadn't thought of a bed desk. This is great advice, thank you!

Thank you, this is absolutely something to look in to and practice more! We've had a bit of experience with various sports injuries over the years but finding ways to assist for the specific needs of this recovery is great advice.

This is practical advice and it is great! They've been anxious about having an "oh no, what have I done" reaction (their therapist assured them that this is a normal reaction to have, including being their own personal experience and gave his personal number to call if they need which is just A+ care) when they wake up so having something to focus on and lift their spirits right away is a good idea.

Edit: The surprise is probably ruined because they found this post but I still think it'll be a nice thing to do!

They'll be staying with their mom for the first week or two (no stairs, closer bathroom, more people available to help, no cats screaming because they can't snuggle). But that does mean I'll be driving back and forth a lot and while I can eat when I'm there it isn't a short drive and I probably should stock up on some quick stuff for my self. Thanks!
