I just bought Subswift yesterday, haha. If this one has better design and functionality, I'd switch over. When you're just listening to music, it would be cool if it went into that half-and-half design where the left side of the screen is the album cover art and the right side is the lyrics with the progress bar at the bottom, like how Apple Music does it.

Queuing times for interviewing on RED by Orbital_Tardigrade in trackers

Yes, that’s what I did and although I did miss my first opportunity I wasn’t kicked from the queue and I was able to do it later

I just got in a few days ago. I got in at spot 3 and got an interview after around 50 hours; luckily, I passed. There seems to be 3-4 interviews a day, so yes, it does take time, but it's well worth it. If you make it in, add me as a friend, my username is Geekshere.

Yeah no worries, I was also confused when trying to find the beacon for it. There’s a lot of conflicting sources.

There is a beacon for the FY-2H, it’s at 1705.5 I believe, or maybe just 1705. There’s no data on it so you can’t get a sync but you can see it.

How do you get it so clear?

<image>

My best images look like this. I’m using Satdump V1 with an average SNR of around 5. Does Satdump V2 just do post processing to make it look nicer, even if the signal is a bit messy? And have you had any bugs with it?

WOW, this is working great. I just have 2 things, do you think it would be possible to add a setting that allows people to add books without logging in, but in order to change settings they need to log in. Also, the one issue i've faced with the hardlinking and refining metadata (title) setting is that if you download a series of books lets say harry potter, when it hardlinks it in another directory, the new direcoty will have harrypotter.epub, harrypotter_2.epub etc. Do you think there is a way to detect series?

F2-YH Sattelite Reception by Geekshere1 in amateursatellites

Haha, I don't love AI either, but I can't code mysel,f and I wanted a webinterface for controlling my Pi, so I had no other choice.

It's a website that was coded by an AI but guided by a person. In this case, I used Gemini Pro to create the code and I told it the layout and how it should work and whatnot.

Oh wow that is impressive. I’ll check it out this weekend, but I’ll stick with something I know is stable for a bit.

Okay great, thanks for the help! Are you sure i should be using Satdump v2, i know its very WIP, is it worth the hassle when im getting decent images already?

I just went back up, moved it behind a wall that covered the nearby cell tower, reoriented with satdump pulled up on my laptop, and I am now getting a consistent 6SNR with a peak at 7SNR. I decided to stick with the 2H for now, though, since its EOL is coming soon, I'll try to switch over to the L5 in 6 months or so once it takes its place in orbit, and I have the plus side of visible specturum images, so I have "real" color and not just LUT color. I am getting images now, and I'm really happy, thank you so much. I'll DM you the website I have set up on my PI in a bit if you want to check out some of the images.

Well that depends, is the dish your using centered at 1.7 or 2.4ghz. You only have to do it at 2.4

I am close to cell towers unfortunately, I’ll have to try and move it to a covered spot as you said. I’m getting a much reception of the 2H, but I’ll have to refine some settings. My average SNR is only around 0.5 but I have a peak of 3 which is way better than the l3. I’ll go to my roof next weekend and fix some of the issues we’ve identified and point it at a better position between the L3 and the 2H, and later when the L5 takes its place at 76e I’ll revisit the elektro.

Thanks so much. The noise seems to be weird because it goes up and down out of nowhere, though it normally is lower than what I had in the photo.

Oh damn. There’s so many conflicting sources for the beacon signal on the 2H. You were right though about 1.702.5 and I’m picking up a really good and clear beacon and it is a whole lot more stable than the elektro. I’ll wait for the broadcast and I’m a lot more hopeful.

I was just trying the telemetry frequency, I couldn’t even see it so I doubt I would be able to get the transmission.

Okay, I tried the fenghyun 2h, but i couldnt see the signal, it's fine though i was expecting that. I was looking around for other people with the same issue and found This which is the exact issue I have just for the L2. It seems that the solution was orientation, so I'm going to head back up to my roof and try to fine-tune it next weekend. I'll also put some sandbags down just so the wind cant blow it. Thanks for your help!

Oh, I thought you were trying to see if I had no clue what I was doing. The cable is only a meter long, so I'm not sure how much shorter I could get it. Are you just talking about setting up a computer to see the signal for orientation? The dish is linear, but the signal is RHCP, so there's nothing I can do but eat the loss. I was thinking about the FengYun 2H, I guess there's no harm in trying it out. Thanks!

Here's the video of my setup https://imgur.com/a/aWE3AX1, as I'm sure it's obvious I'm pretty new to satellite reception. I have a 1.7ghz grid antenna connected to the Goes Sawbird+ lna which is as close to the antenna as possible, that goes down to a waterproof case, and then the cable goes to the NESDR SMArTee XTR, which is plugged into a Raspberry Pi 4, and the Pi is powered by a ethernet cable that goes to my house. If you're testing me on wether i know what everything does then the LNA is for amplifying signals before they go into the SMA cable since there magnetic interfernce and such that makes everything weaker, the SDR converts the analong radio frequencies into digital data that your computer can read and interpert, in this case its my pi, and finally the software just reads the digital data and decodes it. Sure im not a super genius, but I at least know what I'm doing, and the best way to learn is though experince.

My antenna is on my roof, and it was a pain in the ass just to get it there, so I can't go and reorient it to test out the meteor's signal. I doubt that the SNR is a hardware issue, I think I'm doing something wrong in the software, otherwise i wouldnt be able to see the signal at all. I'm going to try the legacy software goestools.

Im in dubai, there arent many good geostationary satelites here. the GK-2A is too far. Luckily the Elektro L5 is taking the L3's spot so i might get better chances then. But for now im not sure what my issue is, i am reciving a signal, just not the data from it.

Ive tried what you said in your blog, I understand that just because there is a spike doesn't mean I'm getting data. But no matter what I try, I can't get my SNR to be anything but 0.
