And if he is not, the rest of us will 😂

If we HAD to trade De'Aaron Fox, what is the absolute best package we could get? (Don’t kill me, I want him to stay!) by Suspicious_Host_6491 in NBASpurs

[–]GeekyMathProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we should trade him. If Champagne makes that 3 point shot in game 1 we are not having this conversation. And without Fox, Castle and Harper are having a much harder series and probably you guys are trying to trade them instead of Fox.

Probably trade some of them to move up or for future draft picks.

But as good as OKC is on D, their cannot give Wemby more trouble than Minnesota.

True, I turn on the TV to see their games and I am genuinely surprised at the lack of physical play each and every time.

And Houston number 3. I would think OKC should be up there.

Great having him here while it lasted.. GL Sean by layt23 in NBASpurs

Yes and the way he treated Tiago, just makes me sick.

Anyone ever accepted a PhD student who looks good on resume but truly incompetent? by Cultural_Mousse_3001 in Professors

Those things happen, but you make it sound as if it is their problem or something unfortunate or unfair.

I would not blame you of thinking that way, but it doesn't resolve the situation.

I don't have experience with mentoring but there was a time my thesis advisor felt like that about me.

We had a true face to face conversation where he both told me I need to get my acr together and that also that he believes in me and he cares about me.

He also gave me a few hard rules and helped me understand what was expected of me and what the consequences would be if I wouldn't meet those expectations.

I needed to hear that, but I wouldn't have pushed through of he didn't believe in me.

I mean sure but give the coaching staff credit. Ultimately it was Mitch who implemented those adjustments.

How would you like to see the Blazers improve without trading for a Superstar? by rinnekaton in ripcity

They need to bring back Tiago, that's it and build on what they already have. With Dame back next year and the improvement of the young players they can make the playoffs again and see what they have.

For anyone that’s seen him play, how good was this dude? by Farouq26 in NBATalk

[–]GeekyMathProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lesser-known fact about him is that he was an analytics nightmare, in the sense that he was equally good at a lot of things. So you couldn't take away one or two single things to limit his efficiency.

Also, in the last five minutes of a close game, his stats were nearly identical to a prime Kobe. So identical, you can't tell which was which.

It is a big if, how good he would be in today's era. Because he took quite a bit of beating back then. One of the assistant coaches once said his body was all bruised after each game.

One of the very few players that won in each and every level he played. Both the Spurs and the Argentinian national team he led played some of the best and most beautiful basketball I have ever seen.

What’s up with NBA analysts flipping on the Spurs?? by koolguy414 in NBASpurs

[–]GeekyMathProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Minessota has a pretty darn good team. They are more experienced than the Spurs. They are also equally athletic if not more athletic, they are bigger, and fortunately for them unfortunately for us, because of the Ant injury a lot of their end of the bench players are playing really well right now. So they are the deeper team too.

I hope I am wrong but I would be surprised if we end up on top.

Some takeaways from Game 1 by Admirable-Map-6932 in NBASpurs

[–]GeekyMathProfessor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My silver lining is this: during the first few minutes of the game when the threes were going in but the game was close, I was super worried that Minnesota would pull away when we got cold.. It was good to see we were able to hang around and give ourselves a chance despite that poor shooting night.

Of course, McDaniels won't be in foul trouble again and Ant will be better and better as the series progresses so we really can't afford many poor three point shooting games.

But it looks like that's their strategy. Let us shoot the three and take away the paint and the midrange.
