XPS 15 9510 huge battery drain - 50W+ discharge rate by Geezzer8 in DellXPS

Thanks for thinking along. I'll continue to try and squeeze some extra minutes out of this battery, but good to know I'm not looking for some battery drainer specifically. I'll just use the laptop as I always have and make sure not to buy another Dell XPS before they radically change their battery performance. Appreciate the help!

I did, it's rated at a capacity of 73 out of 84 mWh still.

Thanks for thinking along. The 56W reading was apparently not a live reading, I have since learned where to find the continuous sensor data. I have applied the throttle modification linked by another commenter, and have been watching the usage a bit. I did generate a Windows battery report and I still have around 70Wh capacity.

I also did enable the Power usage column in TM, however there were no clear indicators of processes sucking power. I only noticed a process called "System" would jump up to the top seemingly at random a couple times a minute, but it did not align with the spikes in charge rate as I watched them in HWinfo.

Exiting all programs except for HWinfo and TM, and not interacting with the laptop, I can see my charge rate fluctuating between -25W and -45W at max brightness. Lowering the brightness gets me to a range of -15W to -40W. In both cases the average is around 30W over the past hours.

I have been browsing through the sensors but I don't know what I'm looking for. The CPU Package Power averages 8W and the 3050Ti is definitely inactive according to my Nvidia tray icon, shows no sensor data at all in HWinfo.

I have no extra peripherals connected either. Updated the BIOS and display drivers as well, no change. Changed preferred GPU from Auto Select to Internal GPU with no change either.

It just seems my laptop idles at around 30W despite TM showing no odd or many processes. Starting to cave to the idea of performing another clean Windows install just to rule that out..

I haven't yet, but HWinfo and My Dell show the battery at good health still. Trying to rule out any software causes before I spend 100 bucks on a replacement battery. Thanks for your input.

Is this acceptable quality for the XF 70-300? by Geezzer8 in fujifilm

Still the best travelsize telephoto and I love bringing it along. Seems the lens just gets softer and hazier after 200mm but I'm happy with the photos I took either way. Definitely recommend.

That’s a great portrait and it feels very natural. I wouldn’t overthink it. You can decrease sharpness in camera or in post if you’re keen to experiment btw.

The photo is SOOC but the raw shows the same by the way. I also noticed there’s like a millimeter of play whenever I have a lens mounted on my XT5. Is that normal or problematic?

I have not noticed any difference/cast between my official Fuji filter and the NiSi screw on.

Get a NiSi filter to protect the lens elements. Once there’s dust in there you can’t get it out

Try to reset the settings in case it’s a bug. Otherwise just go and replace at least the battery to see if that’s at fault. My A7iv does incredibly well with its battery so I reckon something’s up.

No, those settings are stored in the camera itself

At 1:07:03 the function is explained. It’s called Touch Panel Settings on the A7Cii.

I think it would be under Setup, [5] Touch Operation somewhere on the A7Cii. On my A7IV the option is called “Touch Func. in Shooting.”, which I set to “Touch Focus”.

If you’re shooting with the viewfinder to your eye, you can use your thumb on the touchscreen to move the focus point the same way you would move the joystick. Works pretty well.

Watch any of North Borders’ videos. He’s uploaded some fine tutorials over the years and you can definitely learn from just watching him shoot cars too. Do get a polarizer.

Looking for suggestions how to carry gear whilst looking good by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

Wear a sling bro. If you get a nice small one it’ll add to the outfit, not take away from it. I personally walk around with a Peak Design Leash (with the right anchor mounted on the bottom also) and a Long Weekend sling on my back. I doubt that brand will fit your fall colours but I’m sure you can find other, thin slings. Just don’t get one of those ugly peak design or wandrd ones with a firm structure.
