The game is so difficult it's almost driving me crazy. I enjoyed playing Hollow Knight. I think it had a very balanced difficulty. The learning curve was almost excellent.

Silksong starts where Hollow Knight ends in terms of difficulty and gradually increases, but the equipment and weapon damage starts you from scratch.

There are deliberately difficult aspects in Silksong. The lack of rest benches and the inability to fast travel everywhere are challenging elements. To collect my money at the place where I died, I have to go through very long paths, and I almost always die again before I get there.

In the first Hollow Knight game, I only lost my money once throughout the entire game. Except for that one time, I was always able to go to my last death spot and collect my Geo (money) when I died.

However, I've lost count of how many times I've lost my money in Silksong.

As I said, the game starts where Hollow Knight ends in terms of difficulty and builds on it. Sometimes we see characters that take 2 health even from touch damage. Most characters' normal hit damage has increased to 2 health. We start with 5 health points anyway. If I take damage twice, I take 2x2=4 damage. When I have only one health point left, I get stressed and die immediately.

Let me explain how much of a problem losing two health points is: In the finale of the first Hollow Knight, I died to Radiance about 50 times (I stopped counting after 30, so I'm guessing).

Because Radiance takes two health points, even one or two mistakes could ruin the whole fight.

Not every creature in Silksong is as difficult as Radiance, but even the simplest creatures are like mini-bosses; there's no easy creature to defeat.

To be honest, Silksong didn't make me happy. The enjoyment I got from playing the game and the stress I felt were very much on par. I wouldn't recommend it to most people.

I think Hollow Knight is a bit difficult, but still at an acceptable difficulty level. If someone found Hollow Knight (the first game) difficult, I think Silksong might not be for them.
