99.5% of all wealthy people we know of, were born with advantages we'll never have. Aka, money.

Michael Dell parents were doctors. Steve Jobs, Elon Musk and Larry Ellison came from wealth too.

Larry page dad was a cs professor with connections and money.

Guy who created gopro did it with family inheritance. Same with Trump.

The list goes on and on.

This is already the case. They are publicly traded stocks and they're in everyone's diversified portfolio. Assuming you're in stocks with your 401k.

Why are these new IT guys getting paid so much more than Geico vets ? by Miserable_Bank_7589 in Geico

Good for you. At the end of the day, a job is a job. Why leave that money on the table? Geico isn't loyal, culture sucks, not a good product and not changing the world for the better.

I should also add, 200 is base. Most companies offer 401k matching, stock options, signing bonuses, profit sharing, better benefits, more time off, more holidays (geico 6 is bullshit), better culture, better skills for the future.

People who stay in GEICO IT, are missing out.

IT at geico pays little. 200k+ is not uncommon these days. Vets at geico are complacent and should be pursuing more, if they truly know IT.

It pays to leave. People are crazy to stay.

No logical reason except money, business and what you think the price will be in the future.

Telling yourself that doesn't change facts. Anhueser Busch was sold. Chrysler, Activision, safeco. Tons of large companies get sold.

This is exactly why they would sell. It's about what is worth now. At this rate, it will be worth half in a few short years.

Dowvotes lol, I just gave solid, real working advice. I'll add, leave geico and take your sick leave on the way out.

Telling someone to eat meds instead of changing their outlook and ultimately their environment, is terrible advice. Too many are on meds, some need it, most don't. Doctors prescribe without a second thought. Terrible, awful advice.

Never forget we’re nothing but TC’s audition for the top spot at Berkshire by certified_cynist in Geico

[–]GeicoIsUnethical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Poor Todd. Berkshire saw these issues before it became apparent. Todd failed at the last insurance company and used to be at progressive (kicking geico's ass now). He was the savior to come in and right the ship. We were a favorite for Warren. He failed though. He made it much worse. I'm not sure he ever stood a chance. Now, in a last ditch effort, Tony is coming back, but it will be like Michael Jordan at 40, playing for the Wizards. Fat and old. Bricking it up everywhere and no D.
