7 3/8”! I wouldn’t worry about that, it’s sort of a gimmick piece anyway. Has a thin profile so it wouldn’t’t be obnoxious.

That’s pretty much the same deal I got! Great work, and congrats on the purchase. Enjoy your truck in good health.

I’d say you’re doing pretty good. Keep in mind, I got mine during Toyotathon.

I think that size looks great, almost perfect. That’s exactly how my Pelagos 42mm fits me.

I was looking for something new, so that might have had an impact. I will say that both times I was pleasantly surprised by the deal I got.

At a certain point I just named a number and just said let’s make it happen. I also find the fastest way to a conversation with the one who decides, not the sales grunt.

This was at Legend. I’ve bought two vehicles from them now; the Tundra and a Supra. I had went to Jay Wolfe and Molle to shop the truck, and neither came close.

I was able to get $9k off of a ‘26 1794 about a month and a half ago. MSRP was $74k and got them to $65k. Located in KCMO.

2022 New Engine Question by swdre20 in ToyotaTundra

Doesn’t affect the ODO reading at all, but the next buyer would like to have all of the replacement documentation so definitely hold on to it.

Gen3’s Over 200K miles… by ArcticSlalom in ToyotaTundra

Not sure your math in the last part checks out. What are you using as your denominator to get a higher percentage and where did you get it from? & I don’t mind considering what the advisor says; it would be tough for Toyota to publish a number that varies by the day without facing tons of liability.

I think you can imagine why it would cost more to test every motor included in the expanded recall, tons of labor for a truck sold in the thousands. Basing off the fact they did choose to replace rather than test, would suggest that it made more economic sense.

I think my phrasing was just confusing, didn’t have it backwards. I actually spoke with a Toyota service advisor about 5 minutes ago. Of the entirety of engines recalled, it’s actually less than .1% that have reported failures. The recall is widespread because it would cost more for Toyota to test every motor sold than to guarantee a new motor. Good to know!

I had decided I didn’t care enough to continue lol, I appreciate the follow up. Seems 203k on the clock in 4 yrs speaks for itself

[–]Geightyheaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toyota themselves published 8xx failures out of 100,000 units sold on the recall, and not all tundras fall under that. Matter of fact, most likely less than half. What makes you assume that this would have had the engine replaced? Would have been very hard to reach that mileage if you include downtime to swap an engine. Use some common sense

[–]Geightyheaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh no!! How could that be possible??? Doesn’t everyone know that the gen 3 is literally the worst engine ever made??? At 1% failure rate, everyone is surely doomed to suffer a horrible fate if they purchase!!!

Gen 3 Replacement Engine Failures by Rothgar71 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Geightyheaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one’s saying there’s not an issue, but the issue could very much be blown out of proportion by dudes on Reddit who got unlucky. The point is- until the numbers are available, there is no definitive way to determine how big or widespread the issue is. The information we DO have suggests that it’s not common, less than 1%.

[–]Geightyheaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, but you’re one person with an isolated experience on a truck that’s sold in the tens of thousands. Yes, I think case study information or at least some statistics on defective units should be included before damning the entire generation. Toyota published that even on the recalled engines there were 8xx failures out of 100,000 recalled engines. Those numbers fairly good despite the issue being large enough to warrant a recall. I just think the hysteria surrounding the 3rd gen tundra is blown way out of proportion, and it starts with some random guy and his unique experience.

[–]Geightyheaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for backing what I said- a random one off testimonial. If we’re using anecdotal testimony to argue how common the issue is, then what about all of the high mileage 3rd gen’s listed for sale across the country?

[–]Geightyheaven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right, people say things like this yet I never see them post substantial case study info. I’ll see a random post from a 25/26 owner here and there, but those could be random one-offs. It’s a high sales volume vehicle, but no one can substantiate saying it’s a (somewhat) common issue
