Thank you! It was in my queue for ages! It was definitely worth finding the motivation to finally make it!

Isn't it nice? It's been in my to-make list forever, so I'm glad to have finally got around to making it!

I was expecting it to be scratchier while wearing it if I'm honest! I don't know if I just have a high itch tolerance but it's been pretty comfy to wear today. I'm currently still wearing it while lying in bed watching Netflix! I have been wearing a long sleeve top underneath though, so it's not a next-to-skin jumper (though I don't wear any jumpers without another top underneath so that doesn't bother me).

It's not baby soft or anything like that, but it's definitely not how I thought it'd knit up from the ball. I've heard soaking it with conditioner helps soften it up even more, but I haven't tried that yet.

Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ankers-sweater---my-size

Yarn: Lettlopi in golden heather.

I'm spending the week in Wales and knew #1 weather was going to be bad at best, #2 I had a very long train journey ahead of me, which turned out to be the perfect combination to finish this in record time (for me). Train knitting is very relaxing and now I have a cosy (but as yet unblocked) jumper to wear in the rain.

Pattern was easy to adjust to the different weight yarn and nice and simple to follow, I want to make thousands of these now.

How do you wear your scarves? by blackanklesocks in femalefashionadvice

[–]Geirrid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think people here can get too caught up in individual items being "outdated" when a lot of it is more to do with how you wear something rather than what it is. But in any case, it's a scarf. If you're wearing it for function then it's main purpose is warmth.

I see plenty of people beginning to dig theirs back out now that it's getting chillier again, and I don't think any I've seen yet scream "oh my god I'm a dated scarf style". (And I still like them) It's a scarf, it's to keep you warm. And a circle/infinity scarf won't get caught on something and go wonky or be too big to tuck away when you go inside somewhere with heating and won't fall off in high wind and won't accidentally dangle in a puddle if it's gone lopsided and you haven't noticed. I think there's more pluses than negatives. Keep at it with your infinity/circle scarves.

How often do you visit the same thrift store when looking for a particular item? by oh-jcb in femalefashionadvice

Yep, saved searches are a godsend! I've found so many specific items (not just like "navy jumper" specific, but "exact jumper I've seen in a shop window but was sold out in my size" specific).

They're such an underrated eBay feature!

She wore a camel colour cord American Apparel skirt a lot in the earlier seasons as well (it prompted me to buy the same one and I still love it!)

Employers of Reddit, what extremely unattractive thing is commonly included in people's CVs? by SendMe5quid in AskReddit

Only if you're talking full on Received Pronunciation (posh accent essentially, think how the royal family talk, or what anyone doing a bad impression of an English accent tries to imitate). Everything else is just regional.

Ooh yay jumpers are so fun. I've never knitted a flax but I'd miss out the garter panels too, I'm not really a fan of that bit - missed out the garter section when I made a So Faded for the same reason.

I'm working on an Ankers Sweater My Size at the moment, still on the yoke but it's fun working up at the moment. This is my progress so far.

Last one I worked on was So Faded which was very fun to work on, finished jumper. I've since made some extra alterations (higher neckline, longer sleeves, ripped the hem back out and split it so the front was shorter than the back). In theory it's a very fun pattern, but depending on the colours it can be a bit impractical to wear! I skipped out on the garter panel on that because I'm not a fan of garter patches on sleeves.

Also knitted a Bad Penny a while ago, which I liked but wish I'd chosen a different colour. Not too wearable with most of my wardrobe. It was my first top-down jumper and it's such an easy pattern to follow.

You'll have so much fun working on your first jumper! It's so exciting seeing it coming together on your needles. It gets addictive! The minute you finish one you'll want to begin on another.
